1920s jazz, boudoir-style glamour and now, a six-course tasting menu: Manchester’s Lounge 10 promises an unforgettable late-night dining experience and delivers it with panache.

Step through the huge metal front door of Lounge 10’s Tib Lane shop front discretely tucked away behind Albert Square, and you enter a hidden world of prohibition-era decadence spread across both the ground floor bar and the first floor restaurant. Lavishly decorated in the style of secret American jazz clubs in the 1920s, Lounge 10 is perfect for either a romantic night out or for a memorable party with friends.

Sumptuous fabrics are softly draped across walls and ceilings, mixologists prepare unique and classic cocktails, and an expert bartender lovingly tends the absinthe fountain. There’s live music, a Vaudevillian floor show, and even, on occasion, a fortune-teller.  And behind the style, you’ll find real fine dining substance, with a host of positive reviews providing proof that the food lives up to the opulence of the surroundings.

The current six-course tasting menu at £45 is a great opportunity to explore what’s on offer. Showcasing Head Chef Kamil Suszter’s creative approach, the menu offers a tantalising selection of carefully-crafted dishes full of imaginative flavour combinations.

You start with a delicate dish of new season artichoke veloutè with crispy pancetta, topped with balsamic crème fraîche, and move on to the contrasting flavours of smoked salmon and Waldorf salad with a lobster bisque and cucumber jelly. Then, there’s a lemon sorbet to clear the palate before the arrival of a light dish of pan fried grey mullet, pineapple and celery salad, plus ginger purèe with a kale croquette and steamed clams, followed by a duo of Welsh lamb with grilled baby carrots and mushroom emulsion. For desert, there’s crème brûlée, filo biscuit, amaretto jelly and a chocolate ganache.

Once your meal is over, there’s no rush, as the bar stays open until 4am. You can linger and enjoy the atmosphere and entertainment right through into the early hours.

The £45 tasting menu offer is proving popular, and a number of nights are already fully booked.  The offer has limited availability and lasts only until the end of November, so if you’re planning a special night out this autumn, it’s time to dust off your glad rags and book your table now.

Lounge 10 is open from 5pm, Wednesday to Saturday.
