Still a few months short of its first anniversary, Jamie’s Italian in Manchester has already become an iconic addition to the Manchester restaurant scene. Whether you’re a confirmed fan or you’ve yet to sample Jamie Oliver’s unique take on Italian cooking, check out our Christmas Star Deal for an offer that’s hard to refuse.
For a set price of £34.95, our Bookatable Star Deal gives you 3 courses and a glass of prosecco, plus a chance to enjoy the rather special peppered mince pies, all in the spectacular setting of the Grade II listed Midland Bank building on Manchester’s King Street. Jamie’s Italian has embraced the history of the building, making use of its features to stunning effect. The former banking hall is divided in two by a bar boasting a spectacular array of charcuterie, whilst high ceilings are held up by a series of grand arches, and light floods in through the huge arched windows which form a backdrop to an additional galleried eating area overlooking the main hall. There are cosy alcoves, wood-panelling, and library lamp-topped tables.
In contrast to the grand setting, the food at Jamie’s Italian is inspired by the simple, rustic, everyday cooking found in Italian homes. There’s a focus on using the very best ingredients, sourced both locally and in Italy. The restaurant’s philosophy is to cook with care, and deliver without fuss. All the wine is all from Italy, and there’s a good mix of vintage and easy drinking choices.
The Star Deal menu shows exactly why Jamie’s Italian has proved to be immensely popular. You start with a fantastic selection of antipasti, served on a plank. Cured Italian meats fight for space with fresh mozzarella, artisan cheeses, fritto misto, and grilled seasonal vegetables. The finest olives and pickles deliver tangy taste hits, and freshly baked foccacia melts in the mouth.
The choice of main courses includes Gennaro’s Perfect Porchetta; succulent slow-cooked British pork belly filled with herby breadcrumbs, mortadella, sultanas and vin santo, and served with spiced caramelised chestnuts. Roasted sea bass acqua pazza is another mouth-watering option, served whole, with olives, garlic, wine, capers, parsley and sweet baby cherry tomatoes. The vegetarian option is baked pumpkin and squash gnocchi with crispy fried sage and creamy ricotta. All the main courses come with crispy polenta chips, seasonal vegetables, and slow braised Tuscan beans.
The selection of desserts features sweet treats such as Christmas tiramisu with mascarpone and limoncello, or chocolate and pistachio tart with baked figs and creamy gorgonzola. Jamie and Gennaro’s famous peppered mince pies complete the meal.
The Star Deal is an exclusive offer – book online today to make sure you don’t miss out. Jamie’s Italian is likely to be busy throughout December, so to confirm your booking, you will be asked to pay a £10 deposit per person.
