After initially going to the Bistro and being re-directed to the restaurant I was delighted to find a warm welcome and comfortable dining room. Staff were attentive, if at times a bit brusque, but accommodated individual needs. Food was beautifully presented with good portions. Flavours and textures generally good. One bit of my venison was a bit chewy the rest was succulent and sweet and anothers sea bass was very slightly overcooked. Otherwise very nice. Wine list had quite a lot of expensive wines. We went with those recommended with the courses which were excellent, good flavours and well matched. Overall a lovely convivial evening.

Four of us visited for dinner on a Friday evening taking advantage of the 3 courses and glass of champagne deal for £29 a head. The restaurant has a romantic feel and is beautifully lit and decorated. The service was attentive and friendly without being overbearing. Four generous glass of champagne were served soon after we had sat down for us to enjoy whilst we we pondered over the menu. The choice of 3 starters, 3 main and 3 dessert was enough for us to choose from as we liked the sound of all of them. Food arrived in good time and was of excellent quality and very nicely presented. The sommelier was very helpful and recommended a sensibly priced priced bottle of Pinot Noir which was perfect. We chose the recommended accompanying dessert wine with our dessert which complimented our choices wonderfully. On the whole a beautiful setting, great service and lovely food.

We had the 3 course lunch with glass of champagne which was excellent value for money at £29. The food was delicious and well cooked, although our starters could have been a little warmer. The staff were attentive and helpful. We had requested a warm table in our booking and were put by the open fire which was lovely on a very cold January day. All in all a very good experience.

We had a lovely "school reunion " lunch at the Bleeding Heart. The setting was lovely, the service was perfect , staff always there when you needed but not hovering all the time! Enjoyed all the dishes we ordered, the lunch menu choice was excellent. .wine lovely...what else can I say...will definitely come again and recommend to my friends . Thank you!

Excellent service and high quality food. We had a superb little corner room to ourselves.

Food was traditional and OK but let down by being somewhat 'stale'. The spinach suffered from being stood under what I suspect would be a heat lamp. Top was crusty, dry and over-cooked. Service was poor. Waitresses were not really engaging, worst of all the sommelier had to be stopped to place an order then asked twice to ensure the wine was provided with the food. Water glass was not topped, unless requested. What I assume was the maître d' walked through the restaurant with a black look on his face. There was a tall front of house woman who was charming. Overall the restaurant was busy, but standards were not high enough.

An excellent lunch, with attentive but discrete service and a calibre of food that you'd expect from a top quality restaurant. Characterful surroundings!
