Nestled within 14th-century walls in Salzburg's old town, the Arthotel Blaue Gans serves high-end Austrian cuisine. A fashionable beer garden offers a relaxed setting outdoors, with spectacular views over the Mönckeberg walls.
The Blaue Gans menu features a number of Austrian cuisine classics like Wiener schnitzel and tafelspitz (braised beef), alongside creative combinations like breast of guinea fowl on lemon pasta and tomato-chervil salsa, or organic roast beef with green beans and pommes macaire. Sourcing from local boutique vineyards as well as Austrian wine regions, the well-stocked wine cellar offers a breadth of choice.
Blending enchanting history and a modern edge, Blaue Gans Salzburg offers an infinitely laidback setting. Natural light floods onto the rustic wooden panelling and arty murals in the dining room.
The Arthotel Blaue Gans restaurant is just a 5-minute walk from the Salzburger Dom, the city’s cathedral. Free internet access is offered to all diners.

Die Speisen waren vorzüglich. Der Service sehr angenehm. Trotzdem empfanden wir die Preise geringfügig zu teuer.

As ever, a wonderful meal - and I'm a fussy vegetarian! Last time you were kind enough to make an artichoke risotto for me, even though not on the menu. The salad (without mushrooms, as requested) was a delicious starter - was that pea puree on the barley? Clever. Nettle tortellini were very good, although not quite as 'eggy' a pasta as I've had elsewhere. My husband tells me the Tafelspitz was superb - he'll be trying the apple horseradish at home. Our friend wolfed down his fish soup and fried chicken. Very good wine (Sauvignon Blanc and house red.) You offered Hendricks gin but husband was pleased to see Bombay Sapphire on the menu. I like the service and the robust reply to three requests for olives! ("If you ordered them, you'll get them.") I wish the terrace was non-smoking; thank goodness the cigar smoker was nowhere near us. That would have really spoiled our meal; we had cigarette smokers behind us.
