First impressions were good, but quickly diminished at sight of peeling, rickety chairs! Food was quick, cheap and hot.....nothing outstanding, but suited the price. Not sure what I had been expecting but I have dined a few times in a similar Bistro in Covent Garden (sure it's the same company) and the food and decor were much better? Was treating an overseas guest to lunch, wished I'd chosen somewhere I had been to previously as I felt "let down". Certainly an economical place to eat in the Soho area..... But not if you are out to impress!

Attentive staff but hugely disapponting food. I looked at Trip Advisor for a restaurant close to Ronnie Scott's jazz club. Described as Meditteranean, my melon and mango starter was dry and hard with an awful fruit coulis. i had a vegetarian moussaka which was ok (ish) served with iceberg lettuce and rice. Pretty ordinary really. My friend had a feta cheese starter again with iceberg and a slice or two of tomato. Good dressing but again fairly dull. Her chicken in tomato sauce main was tasty and good. We just expected something better than we could do at home in a hurry and it did not deliver.

Good meal, quickly served.Waiter kept filling our glasses up until wine finished, then assumed we'd want another-we declined. This is not good practice.

Looking online for somewhere to eat close to Shaftesbury Avenue and theatres - without making too much of a hole in my pocket, Bistro 1 seemed to fit the bill. My wife and I were not disappointed by the value and taste of a fixed price meal with a bottle of wine not overly 'marked up' and friendly, quick service.

The food was normal, nothing special or great at all. The staffs were okay but kept on asking us if we are done or need anything even if we did not ask for the bill. It felt like they were trying to rush us away (they kept cleaning the table and taking every piece of cutlery they could as well). It made us feel uncomfortable that eventually we asked for the bill. So overall, I was unsatisfied with the whole dining experience.
