On the picturesque St Helen’s Square, Bettys York is an elegant café serving lunch, dinner and afternoon teas. Inspired by the founder’s experience on the maiden voyage of the Queen Mary, the café is decked out in wood panelling, with large curved windows and ornate mirrors.
Afternoon tea at Bettys York involves a vast selection of teas, served with sweet and savoury delights. Classic blends join exotic black, green and white teas, as well as herbal blends on the lengthy tea menu. Traditional fresh sandwiches are followed by freshly baked sultana scones with strawberry preserve and Yorkshire clotted cream, as well as a selection of handmade cakes.
Add a touch of indulgence to afternoon tea with a glass of champagne, or sample the wide choice of specialty coffees, world wines, and local ales. Bettys also hosts regular events and live music, making it a lively venue day and night.
Bettys York is a 9-minute walk from York Train Station.

Could not fault the staff and the service but unfortunately the Lady Betty's Afternoon Tea was certainly not worth the money we paid. It was way too overpriced for the food we got don't get me wrong the food was lovely but not value for money.

Everything about the experience at Bettys was lovely. It was calm, peaceful and relaxing, we were treated to a wonderful selection of sandwiches and cakes which were well presented and explained to us by our waitress, Danielle (who was exceptional).

It was in a nice Art Deco room plenty of space between tables, well looked after by Henry the attentive member of staff who was very friendly and informative . It was a small party of 3 people 1 being on a visit from Canada who thoroughly enjoyed the Betty's champagne afternoon tea.Food was excellent with a pianist playing in the background . Would certainly recommend this experience to others.
