Bettys Harrogate has been offering afternoon teas, and a blend of British and Swiss cuisine since 1919. The original Bettys Café, the restaurant overlooks the floral landscapes of The Stray outside.

Afternoon teas at Betty Harrogate include a luxurious selection of sandwiches, cakes, patisseries and teas. Indulge in a traditional cream tea with scones and Yorkshire clotted cream, treat yourself to a champagne afternoon tea, or choose from the lavish cake trolley.

Combining the hearty influences of Swiss and Yorkshire cuisines, the Bettys menu places bacon and raclette rosti and swiss alpine macaroni alongside classics like fish and chips and slow-cooked steak pie. More Mediterranean influences also feature, including butternut squash tortelloni in sage butter with chestnut mushrooms, fresh spinach and toasted hazelnuts. For a lighter dish, try one of the speciality sandwiches, salads and omelettes.

In the centre of the picturesque North Yorkshire spa town, Bettys Harrogate is a 10-minute walk from Harrogate Train Station.

The food and ambiance were great. The service professional and overall a really pleasant experience. Even though we were runnig late, they still managed to accommodate us. I was however a bit offended to receive a phone call on the way home asking me if I had paid, which of course, I had!

It all felt a little surreal. There was a queue outside which we bypassed as we had booked. We entered and went upstairs and joined another queue. People were waiting to be seated. I felt a little like I was queueing for an audition! People were nervously talking in hushed tones! However once our coats were taken and we were seated it was lovely. The waitresses were all pleasant and helpful. We were delighted to be offered a complimentary glass of champagne as some renovation work was being carried out when we visited. We thought that was a nice touch as we had been a little disappointed on arrival to see the scaffolding and covering to the exterior. The sandwich selection was good and were all delicious, we asked for more coronation chicken and ham and cheese! The scones with jam and cream were also very moreish. The selection of cakes was again very good but both my husband and I agreed that the sandwiches and scones were our favourite part of the tea as we both felt the cakes a little too sweet. The pianist was very good and the service was excellent. Definitely a treat and a one off experience which we would both recommend however we both agreed that if we returned to Harrogate we wouldn't necessarily return to 'Bettys',
