Bettys Harrogate has been offering afternoon teas, and a blend of British and Swiss cuisine since 1919. The original Bettys Café, the restaurant overlooks the floral landscapes of The Stray outside.

Afternoon teas at Betty Harrogate include a luxurious selection of sandwiches, cakes, patisseries and teas. Indulge in a traditional cream tea with scones and Yorkshire clotted cream, treat yourself to a champagne afternoon tea, or choose from the lavish cake trolley.

Combining the hearty influences of Swiss and Yorkshire cuisines, the Bettys menu places bacon and raclette rosti and swiss alpine macaroni alongside classics like fish and chips and slow-cooked steak pie. More Mediterranean influences also feature, including butternut squash tortelloni in sage butter with chestnut mushrooms, fresh spinach and toasted hazelnuts. For a lighter dish, try one of the speciality sandwiches, salads and omelettes.

In the centre of the picturesque North Yorkshire spa town, Bettys Harrogate is a 10-minute walk from Harrogate Train Station.

I booked the afternoon tea for my wife as a pre birthday treat, we had said about going for some time now. And we were not disappointed, from arriving and being greated by a very nice gentleman who pointed us in the right direction, to being shown to our table by a very polite young man. Once seated Sophie introduced herself as our server and after taking our tea order. With each course that came a good explanation of what we was about to eat was given. And I must confess to having extra sandwiches. The only thing I would say is that my wife is a plain cake person and therefore she only ate one of the deserts. The whole experience was fantastic, the food is good the staff are extremely polite and professional. And the setting is perfect. We really like the pianist playing in the back ground.
Thank you for a great afternoon.

Generally our dining experience was good although not as smooth as our previous visit. Our waitress, Bella, was attentive and knowledgeable and we have no complaint about her service whatsoever. Our previous visit was a real experience even down to an apology that our previous waiter was not available to us on that day and we were made to feel very special and received a top up glass of champagne and complimentary tea on departure. This visit was good and well above any comparable experience but we were not offered a refil of champagne or tea on departure and our only contact was with our young waitress who was good value and did ensure we had refill food and tea. Unfortunately, Lady EVANS had a rather long hair in one of her scones which was not a pleasant experience. She bit into the scone and had to remove the hair from her mouth leaving the other half in the scone. The manager removed and replaced the item and apologised but expressed the view she did not know how it had occurred as all kitchen staff wear hair nets! It was pointed out that the colour was different from Lady EVANS which was accepted without further question and the matter was left to rest there. We had no further contact with the manager or anyone else other than our waitress.

It was a lovely afternoon tea and in general the food was delicious and very well presented. The only thing we didn't like was the appetiser, which consisted of pea puree.

The Imperial Room was quiet and beautiful and the service was excellent.

A relaxing and indulgent treat, staff were fantastic and even found a lovely window seat for us. Undoubtedly it was expensive but memorable. Lemon scones were wonderful as was the piano playing.
Only one negative comment the door to the kitchen/utility area at the bottom right hand side of the room was open which distracted one of us from the otherwise beautiful surroundings of the room itself.

From the moment we arrived at the Imperial Room our afternoon tea was an experience to savour, The Teas that we ordered were beautiful and especially the White Tea .
Our waiter was very helpful in explaining all the food choices. he was very attentive and kept a discrete watchful eye on our progress through the many delightful array of foods making our Afternoon Tea very enjoyable.
The food was beautiful, we didn't want smoked salmon and were immediately given another option, perfect !!!!
The music was an added bonus, so in keeping with the surroundings.
We had a lovely corner table looking out on to the park opposite.
All in all a wonderful experience Thankyou

Absolutely beautiful, tea was fantastic, a fantastic time. Don't be fooled, portions may look small, but once you have finished you will need a good walk, so ensure you arrive on an empty stomach.
