A lovely environment, with friendly staff, good food and a non-rushed experience (meeting up with old friends, we wanted to talk lots!)

Nestled in the historic town of Market Harborough, The Three Swans Hotel restaurant serves up an array of delectable European cuisine. Offering breakfasts, dinners and everything in between, the bistro benefits from a luxurious, luminescent dining area, a cosy bar lounge, and a gorgeous, cobble-stoned courtyard for al fresco dining.

Spanning gourmet seasonal dishes and hearty pub classics, The Three Swans Hotel menu utilises fresh ingredients sourced from renowned local suppliers. Specialities include the sumptuous medallions of beef in fragrant rosemary and white wine sauce, and the famous double dog – a pork frankfurter topped with pulled pork, caramelised onion and French mustard with skin on fries.

Afternoon teas are accompanied by an assortment of freshly baked sweet treats at The Three Swans in Market Harborough, while an extensive range of coffees, wines, beers and ales can be ordered from the excellent bar.

A lavish eatery set in a grand country building, The Three Swans Hotel restaurant is just a 4-minute drive from Market Harborough Rail Station.

Lovely environment but very disorganised. Afternoon tea was very disappointing in both quantity and quality.first plate of sandwiches were stale and had to be returned, when we did eventually get replacement sandwiches there was only only plain ham and chicken mayonnaise, which when i worked it out were only 4 rounds of bread with crusts removed for 3 adults. Scones were tiny bite size with a small pot of jam and cream for 3 people!! Cakes were carrot cake from a tray bake and a tiny Strawberry square which was nice but they were the only 2 on offer where other tables seemed to be getting a bigger selection of different cakes. Should have been £45 for 3 people which would have been a RIP OFF but did obtain a 40% discount.
    Went home hungry!!

On arrival we were shown to our table........right next to a door that meant having to move from your seat every time it was used! No surprise that we asked to move after just a few moments.
First up; the drinks order - sadly the lady that came to take the order couldn't tell me which drinks were available - not a great start but we got there in the end.
Having viewed the menu we decided upon our meals. My good lady ordered the fillet, but was slightly taken back when not asked how she would like it cooked?! We had to express this as she started to walk away! I went for the shin of beef something I have had before in other establishments and always tasty.
What arrived sadly did not meet expectations, firstly the shin of beef was more "skin of beef" as it was like chewing leather......tough as old boots. The taste was fine, but it really should melt in the mouth!
Next up the fillet; order medium / rare. What we got was medium / well, although it was a beautiful cut of meat, shame the chef didn't do it justice (the term "chef" is used loosely).
Part way through I ordered further drinks, but was left scratching my head when the waitress took away the half glass of wine that my wife was drinking!! In fairness this was spotted by a senior member of staff who brought a complimentary glass back.
Upon finishing our meal we were asked "how was it", to which we clearly expressed that it was a very disappointing meal! At this point we were then asked why we didn't say anything when we started to eat. I explained I found it polite not to and was being very English, but I then went on to ask why I wasn't told the chef couldn't cook? No response.....may be they felt it polite not to say!
For the cost of these meals (slightly more expensive than most places) in one of the towns most prestigious and iconic hotels it truly was very very poor from start to finish. I don't know why, but I was expecting an offer of a discounted bill? No such luck.
    Won't be back soon...........

For starters we had the crab fritters and the oven-baked camembert - we didn't taste much crab in the fritters and the camembert was OK. We both chose moules marinieres for the main course and whilst the muscles were super, the sauce was too thick for our liking. My wife also felt that they were not warm enough - perhaps they had cooled down after being cooked too early for the timing of our main course. For wine we chose a sauvignon blanc from New Zealand which went very well with the muscles. The desserts and the coffees were fine. The service was good and efficient.

Excellent menu choice. Attentive staff. Great that they picked up on the fact we were celebrating my sons birthday and provided a candle with his sweet and gave him free drinks all evening.
Lovely venue. Would recommend to others.
