Excellent all round. High end Indian restaurant in Mayfair so not cheap but the food, service and setting were all fantastic. Great cocktails, imaginative. Would be pleased to go again.

We had a lovely lunch at Benares for my boyfriend's birthday. They called to confirm the booking prior to our lunch and all staff were so welcoming. The food was delicious! Would definitely reccomend trying it.

I booked this on a special deal but in no way did that detract from the first class service we received. The food was excellent and beautifully presented and the delicious cocktails were so different to anything we'd had anywhere else. In the course of service, we were asked if it was a special occasion and then were very pleasantly surprised by the provision of a 'Happy Birthday' plate with petit fours and a candle for my wife's birthday. All-in-all an extremely enjoyable experience and the signed cookbook, which was part of the special deal, is a lovely memento.

excellent food and overall service. buzzy atmosphere and we really enjoyed it. Only criticism was speed of service --it was too quick. The main course arrived as we finished our starter without any chance of a break which I've never experienced in a top quality restaurant

Excellent service and food but extremely noisy. Too noisy that make the restaurant uncomfortable.

This was my second visit to Benares and both my partner and enjoyed the experience. I really only have two criticisms, which would be that we thought the set lunch, although delictious was a little the mean side with the first course and that perhaps coffee should have been included in the price.

The starters were excellent but the mains were disappointing.

The service was below expectations as we spent the evening asking lots of questions about what could be accomodated and no one person took responsibility for it, given we had confirmed a gluten free diet prior.
