Set back from the salt-soaked shores of Brighton beach, Bellota - Brighton is Britain’s first standalone cava bar, serving a plethora of authentic Spanish tapas to match. A charcuterie-style counter offers award-winning produce, while a pretty, anterior terrace caters for al fresco dining.

Melting hand-carved jamón ibérico leads the Bellota menu, together with rich chorizo sausage sautéed with roasted garlic and bulked up with cider. Traditional dishes dominate the tapas selection, and include crispy, fried potatoes paired with butternut squash, an olive oil fried egg and a sprig of rosemary, or homemade Spanish-style omelette with potatoes and onion, cooked fresh to order.

Vibrant yellow and pink hues dominate the colour scheme, while olive and cream undertones pack the tavern-style bar area where a feature wine wall is displayed. Quirky and contemporary, plush leather banquettes clash suitably with marble tables, candelabra chandeliers and chunky oak food boards.

An 8-minute walk from Brighton Pier, Bellota in East Sussex is just a 6-minute drive to Brighton Rail Station.

On the very edge of Brighton town centre, near the Theatre, good value tapas bar, we dined on a quiet mid Festive holidays lunch time - service was slow at times, however we were in no rush, food was good, prawns excellent, chicken skewer was ok - not grrrreat. Would definitely go back again.
