Right on the corner of Leicester Square, Bella Italia Cranbourn Street offers the chance to dine in comfort whilst watching the activity going on in the square.

Set halfway between Piccadilly Circus and Covent Garden, this central London Italian restaurant is a popular choice with sightseers, theatregoers and those hoping to catch a glimpse of a celebrity attending a premiere at the Leicester Square cinemas. If warm enough you can sit on the pavement, otherwise there are 2 floors inside for informal dining.

The Bella Italia menu offers a range of pasta dishes, risotto, salads and of course pizza. A good range of antipasti and desserts complete the experience. Set menus are also available and provide excellent value for money. To drink, there are Italian beers and wines, as well as spirits and soft drinks. To end your meal Italian-style, the Cranbourn Street Bella Italia also offers a selection of coffees including espresso and cappuccino.

Waiters were very helpful and friendly. The food was OK, some pizzas were a bit burnt at the edges but his could have been because we were a table of 8, and they tried to deliver it all at once.

the food was very good, I had the Salmon Limone, and reasonable price. For a restaurant in Leicester square (or anywhere else) very easy to get a reservation in the last minute. Was not too busy (in comparison with other restaurants around) but the service took forever!! Just to give an idea, 30minutes just to pay the bill. If you are not in a rush, I recommend!

Food was lovely and waiters were very friendly. Service was slow for us upstairs as the restaurant was full with not enough staff to assist.

Brilliant service and tasty food for a pre theatre meal. Could not find fault with anything and of course the position of the restaurant is great for getting to a variety of theatres

Bella Italia is really a nice restaurant, I enjoyed it.. The food was nice.. The only thing I didn't like was the fact that me and friend had to wait so long before the food came.. We waited for half an hour.. Apart from that I would definetely recommend everyone to go there..

On arrival we was shown to our table and given the menus?
I told our waiter that I had a voucher for 2 and he looked at the voucher but didn't seem too sure about it. He spoke with his manager that said that yes it was fine.

I then asked about what we could choose from the menu and he said that we could choose any starter each, any main meal pasta or pizza each, and then Gelato ice cream each, all washed down with a glass of prosecco each? Not bad we thought?
When looking at the menu I noticed the starters and the mains were all priced differently? So I was confused with what I could and could not order? Anyway we ordered the king prawns in garlic and chilli (I think they were the dearest starter and the Gnocchi with chicken main and pizza with chicken, basil etc. (I think they were all the most expensive dishes on the menu, but the waiter confirmed that our order was fine?

The food when it arrived was divine. The king prawns were cooked to perfection and full of flavour. The pizza was extremely tasty on a thin handmade base, and the gnocchi was just amazing, packed with flavour. The prosecco was very nice too and was a perfect accompaniment to our meal.

All off the sudden a lady rushed upstairs to where we were sitting and spoke to our waiter. It sounded like he had made a mistake and we was limited to what we could order off the menu.
I felt sorry for the poor chap but the manager should have made it clear to him what we could have ordered with the voucher?

We ordered our gelato ice creams which were also delicious and then left.

Nothing was said to us about the matter by anyone and we went away extremely happy.

We had Love Theatre dining vouchers. The menu we were offered contained 3 starters, 3 mains and a choice of 2 deserts, one being ice cream. Felt conned that since we had bought dining vouchers the menu choice had completely shrunk to virtually very little choice. Really pathetic. Service was so slow that we nearly missed our theatre show and we had given ourselves 2.5 hours for dinner and getting the short distance to the theatre.

Unfortunately not a good experience overall. We were disappointed at the limited and somewhat basic pre theatre menu. However 6 out of our party of 8 ordered the carbonarra.. Every single one of us left most of this as it was watery and tasteless. We were offered a free coffee which a few of us accepted. We were by this time now in a hurry due to us going to a show we were going to following our meal. I had allowed one and a half hours for our meal.
This s a shame as I have also booked a table at another branch for other friends and myself for Thursday and I am hoping that restaurant will not disappoint us. This was my family christmas treat night out and the lack of a meal spoilt this as a coffee did not satisfy our appetites as we did not have time to order an Alternative meal.
