At Belgo Noord in Camden, a superb range of eclectic Belgian cuisine and beers are served. Split into 2 areas, the restaurant boasts chic, contemporary décor, with high glass ceilings.

Uncomplicated yet delicious Belgian delicacies are served on the Belgo menu. Favourites include parma ham with celeriac remoulade, wild boar sausages with Belgian stoemp mash and berry jus, or there’s always the house favourite − mussels with cream, white wine and garlic. Belgo also offers a dedicated children's menu, as well as pre-theatre and express menus.

The Belgo restaurant drinks menu offers one of the largest selections of Belgian beers in the UK. As well as renowned beers brewed by monks within Trappist monasteries, there’s also a range of tasty fruit brews and blonde ales. The dessert menu at Belgo London offers decadent treats such as Brussels-style waffles, and Belgian chocolate bread and butter pudding.

A stone’s throw from the bustling Camden Market, Camden Belgo Noord is a 4-minute walk from Chalk Farm Tube Station.

With a 3pm booking we didn't expect much atmosphere however the food was good and the staff very helpful and friendly.

I arrived early but was welcomed at the small bar area upon arrival. The man at the bar led me to the restaurant where I was seated immediately. The restaurant was quiet with only me and a few other people to begin with but I was soon joined by a larger, noisy group that were seated on the other side of the restaurant. There was excellent wi-fi and a soundtrack that consisted of great alternative rock songs I haven't heard for ages. The dining area also looked cool.

A server approached me and was aware of my special requests of the set menu, the soft drink and availability of items on the menu. The only thing that wasn't available was the cherry sauce with the waffle. When another server brought my drink to the table she didn't seem to understand me when she took my order or when I gave a simple request and statement before and after my main was served much to my frustration. If staff can't understand me why should they even work here? Hopefully this could change if the NAS gets involved... She was quite cold about me having my iPad mini on the table that I used to write this review and watch a video in between courses and also insisted I give her five minutes to order my dessert, which meant being served took even longer. I also got the impression staff were talking amongst themselves in between courses and I had no clue what they said.

My croquettes arrived quickly. They were crispy with a slight smell of beer. My main dish took a bit longer. The chicken was cooked to my liking with a sticky barbecue beer glaze and the chips were crispy with skins on but a bit salty. The crepe itself was cold due to the chocolate ice cream that was served with it but the ice cream and the white chocolate sauce were gorgeous. The bill arrival and the collection of payment were prompt.

Overall very good cheap food and decent ambience until the larger group arrived but slightly slow service during my main and dessert and a couple of fairly inattentive staff members. 4/5.

Perfect pre round house dinner - fabulous moules frites and a Belgian beer - what's not to love

Food OK, service slow. Took ages to get first round of beers delivered to the table. Mussels came but had to ask for bread twice before it finally arrived. Steaks ok. A confused and slow service.

They was a wealth of dishes to choose from, even the Express Lunch menu. There was a varied choice of beers and not one for liking lager, the Mango beer was delicious. I opted for Kimchi Mussles with frites and was happy that I wasn't overburdened with the frites as I hate to leave food. The waitress was attentive and patiently waited while I spooned ladle after ladle of the delicious broth at the bottom of the bowl. It's been over 11 years since I visited a Belgo and glad to see they still over a great dining experience
