A short drive from Leeds Castle, Beefeater – Sir Thomas Wyatt presents a new take on the traditional steakhouse concept. Championing the unique flavours which come with chargrill cooking methods, the restaurant is housed in a building with a mock-tudor façade and a garden for sunny al fresco dining in warm weather.

Paying homage to the taste of the chargrill, the Beefeater Grill menu features sizzling steaks, gourmet burgers, succulent fish fillets, and crisp salads. Alongside a bar stocked with easy-drinking wines and chilled international beers, enjoy dishes like the Beefeater mixed grill with bottomless spicy chips, or grilled salmon fillet with buttered potatoes and tenderstem broccoli.

A tempting ‘Little Eaters’ menu gives kids the chance to build their own meals at Beefeater restaurants, followed by sweet treats like the mini chocolate challenge, or fruit fondue. Enjoy unlimited refills on a range of soft drinks, as well as thirst-quenching fruit juices and rich coffee blends.

Beefeater – Sir Thomas Wyatt in Maidstone is a 15-minute drive from Maidstone Barracks Rail Station.

I took my mother for an evening meal, we received a good welcome and was promptly taken to our table and we were told that Laura would be looking after us. Laura came to our table 5 mins later took our order for drinks and returned a few minutes to say that they did not have the wine that we requested, she recommended an alternative which we were happy with, the drinks arrived we gave her our order of starters and main courses. We noticed how busy the restaurant was getting the waiting staff seemed to be almost running in and out of the kitchen. Half an hour later Laura came to our table and confessed that she had forgotten to submit the starter request so our starters and main courses were ready at the same time, she offered to bring both together, we declined and asked her to bring our mains. The top layer of chips were cold and chewy & both meals were just warm, which indicated to me that the plates had been standing a while, the whole meal was not up to your usual standard, when we had finished we had to wait at least 30 minutes before another waitress who looked like she was the Matradee, she cleared the table & took our desserts order, they finally came nearly 30 minutes later, when my mothers was placed on the table the spoon slipped into the plate getting sticky sauce all over the handle, she said "oh dear do you want another spoon?" I said yes please and also asked for the bill, she dissapeared, we waited a several minutes, trying to get her or anyone's attention! In the end I had to get up and find someone, I returned with spoon and we finished our deserts, we then waited another 20 minutes trying to get someone's attention, finally I caught Laura's eye and she came over I asked for the bill which promptly brought to our table we completed the payment and left over 2 hours later.

Our overall impression was that we felt there was not enough staff to cater for the amount of guests, some members of staff were very stressed.

Four of us dined on Saturday 20th. Although our table wasn't ready at the booked time we realised that it was due to the time of year and that the restaurant was very busy. The staff were very apologetic, and we're willing to wait. The whole experience was quite pleasurable apart from the fact that there was a smell of cooking in the air, we were informed that there was a broken extractor fan in the kitchen. Overall it was a good night with freshly cooked food served by Ben.

Meal OK but could have been hotter. Chips cold. Would not have skinny chips again. Salad poor. Service fine.
