Sunday Carvery is highly recommended. Good value and freshly prepared food with plenty of choice. My only gripe is that on a cold winter's dsy there was no hot pudding/custard avsilable.

Four of us dined for Sunday lunch on the 15th January which on the whole was a good experience. We did have an issue with the restaurant which unfortunately would have been a difficult task for the staff to sort out. Unfortunately there was a large table of customers who were celebrating a birthday , fine, if it hadn't have been for the little girl aged about two, who was continuously allowed to sit at the grand piano and bash away to her hearts content. This was not a pleasant experience. Maybe as a prevention, if it possible the piano could be locked.
With regard to the food,on the downside two of us found the gravy to be quite salty, and none of us were too keen on the roast potatoes as they were rather dry and on the hard side, but the meats, vegetables and Yorkshire puds were lovely.
The goats cheese starter was excellent, as was the prawn cocktail. We were all very pleased with selection of deserts.
As we have found on previous occasions the staff are excellent.

Really well presented, well cooked food, rich in flavour. Just a shame most of the menu wasn't available. The service was really out of whack with the menu and quality of the food. It was amateurish and uncomfortable. She was a really nice friendly girl but it felt like she didn't know what she was doing. Despite my booking AND the restaurant being empty she said she had no record of the booking. We felt uncomfortable and I asked if she wanted to see the email. She said we could have lunch anyway. No water was offered at any time. We had to ask for a wine menu and it was only when we ordered that she told us (as each item was requested) that most of the menu was unavailable. She also forgot the order (only 2 of us!) and had to come back and check as one of the dishes was also not available. A bit later another waitress appeared and they seemed to have a disagreement about our booking in front of us. She really was sweet and smiley and nice but the service was more macdonalds than a restaurant with an ambitious menu and good food deserves. I have said below I'd recommend but I'd also warn them about the service

We booked for a special 75th birthday lunch with family. On arrival, no one greeted us & we had to go to the bar to ask about our booking. They didn't have a record of it in the manual diary although the waitress was pleasant & friendly & showed us to a choice of tables. We noticed a lot of crumbs on the chairs & under the table as we sat down. The food was very good & we loved the views of the countryside plus the staff were happy & friendly but not well trained or organised.
