Undoubtedly one of Chelmsford’s most versatile venues, Bake n’ Grape prides itself on being a bakehouse, bar & grill. The finest British produce is served in a relaxed café-style setting, and regular jazz and cocktail events are staged.

Grill dishes like the BBQ rack of ribs are a speciality on the Bake n’ Grape menu, whilst other options include the Bn’G burger, and mini roasted aubergine steaks with sweet potato wedges. For those with a sweet tooth and an eye for innovation, the deconstructed cheesecake is the perfect pudding.

The menu isn’t the only thing that changes: the mixologists are always crafting new and exciting cocktail recipes. There are 2 signature cocktails that are a permanent fixture, however: the Princess Sparkle and Sophie’s Cocktail, to be enjoyed in the downstairs bar which comes to life at night.

A decadent champagne breakfast is also on offer at Bake n’ Grape restaurant. Chelmsford Station is a 10-minute walk away.

    Food was lovely, freshly made.
Poor service which was a shame, i kept having to ask for things, such as cutlery, jam for our scones and more drinks. One plate was dirty so I had to ask for a clean one.
I had afternoon tea, with a glass of proseco, it wasn't made clear that this option didn't include tea or coffee, so for that reason I thought it was over priced.
I would of been better off choosing the option that did include tea and coffee and buying a glass of proseco on the side.
For this type of occasion I wouldn't choose this venue again.

Great menu - particularly impressed with vegetarian options. Decor fresh and unusual. Welcoming feel, and good general atmosphere.
Our waitress, Grace, was superb - attentive, knowledgeable about the menu (one of our party is gluten-intolerant) and good humoured.
Thoroughly enjoyable evening, price reasonable too!

Food was good. Staff were pleasant, if a little inattentive. Food not served on plates but wooden trays.

Booked lunch on line for Valentine's day and surprised to get a table just a few a few days before 14th so was expecting not a lot.....
On arrival restaurant had only a few tables occupied and we were shown to a two seat table upstairs. By departure upstairs was around 60% full and downstairs remained empty.
The service was polite and fairly efficient and both my wife and I liked to overall mix of foods on the menu.
We chose bruschetta to start with my wife picking the days pie special - steak and ale and I chose the brisket.
Starters were very tasteful. The pie however looked great but the steak was very fatty and my wife didn't finish it. The brisket was great with a nice bed of rice. I ordered some chips but had to remind the server for these as the didn't arrive with the main course.
We jus had some tea and coffee to finish however my coffee seemed more on the saucer than in the cup. The milk also comes in a great little jug designed to flow all over the table when pouring.
Total bill with two soft drinks came to £52...... not bad but the pie could have been better.
    Service remained polite on departure.
Not bad, not great but OK.

The food is lovely and very large portions, to get through three courses you will need to be starving hungry, the ham hock is huge and the burgers really good. The restaurant was full it was a Saturday night before valentines, the only disappointing thing was waiting over 45 minutes for our desserts and drinks order, they did apologies but we had to ask twice. Good choice on the menu, something for everyone.
