A stone’s throw away from Russell Square & the British Museum, Bacco Restaurant is a classic Italian restaurant & wine bar with a sheltered al fresco courtyard. Mixing a passion for traditional cuisine with a contemporary aesthetic, it is an elegant retreat in buzzy central London.

With a wine list featuring bins from Italy’s finest producing regions, the Bacco menu promises a feast of flavours & textures, such as pumpkin-filled ravioli with sage, butter & parmesan, sea bass with braised fennel, olives, potatoes & pine nuts, and rabbit bruschetta with padron chilli pepper & parmesan.

For dessert, try the creamy cheesecake with poached plums, or the chocolate mousse with crispy almonds & pistachio ice cream. Bacco is lined with wooden wall panels in chocolate & coffee-brown tones, and decked out with high-backed leather chairs, and crisp white tablecloths.

Bacco Restaurant in Holborn is a 5-minute walk from Holborn Tube Station. Chancery Lane Tube Station is just a 6-minute walk away.

I had a very relaxed lunch with a friend. The staff was pleasant and helpful, the table comfortable and I would return upon another occasion.

Didn't get the chance to go as they rang last minute to say they didn't take the diners card we were using despite specifically checking twice when we rang to confirm the booking. Absolutely shocking! Disappointed that an establishment would behave like this, especially when they knew we were coming down to London for our 15th wedding anniversary.

Went to Bacco for a business dinner. Food was excellent - contemporary Italian with high quality ingredients, lovely presentation; a very good wine list; service was attentive without being overbearing. The only down side was the background music (reminded us of the European techno pop in ski resorts). The ceiling speaker was directly over the table which made conversation difficult at times. We asked for it to be turned down (if not off) to no avail. Shame as it is completely unnecessary as the ambience of the restaurant would be perfectly fine without. So go for the superb food; but be selective with where you sit.

Second visit, just as lovely as first. Really like being in Italy, the food is superb and the staff are very sweet and attentive.

Second time here and what was very pleasing was that the boss and the waiter remembered me from 6 months ago! The food is very good, expensive but well cooked and presented. there is plenty of choice and specials available. The signature squid starter dish is lovely and the monkfish main very good. Small portions but adequate. The staff are very friendly and patient in allowing me to practice my Italian. Good wine list.
