A stunning medieval-styled basement pub, Bacchus Bar in Birmingham is an atmospheric and intimate hideaway on one of the city's oldest streets. Filled with cosy nooks throughout, a great range of pub grub and cask ales are served.
Since Nicholson’s pubs were first established in 1873, these traditional British inns have become synonymous with warm hospitality, hearty pub food and a speciality range of ales. As well as always featuring British pub classics like beer-battered fish & chips and gammon & eggs, the Bacchus Bar menu is complemented by a rotating selection of pie, sausage & chop and fish specials for each season.
The Bacchus Bar bar is always stocked with exquisite gins, warming whiskies and fine wines to pair with favourite meals, and there’s always a superb range of seasonal and regional real ales on offer. A constant at the bar is the St Austell-brewed Nicholson’s Pale Ale, made with Cornish Maris Otter malts, and a hand-picked blend of English hops.
A truly atmospheric and intimate pub, Bacchus Bar is 7 minutes' walk from Birmingham New Street Station.

Hello. I came to dine on 14th with my husband for lunch. We have been several times before. Tuesday was lovely, we really enjoyed our meal and the atmosphere was lovely.

The venue was a lovely venue. Menu options wasn't the best. Most of the options on the menu were unavailable leaving only 2 starters to choose from in total. One of our main dishes turned up which was was the steak and Ale pie which was stone cold throughout so we had to get it replaced. Because the venue is clearly a drinking venue on a Saturday evening, the service was none existent in the restaurant and we had to keep prompting waitresses when we required table service. Overall not a great experience for the price we paid so would not come back

We had the chorizo and wild boar burger with triple cook chips and really enjoyed it. Great atmosphere and love the medieval decor.

we were met with a smile, given a choice of tables. The waitress was attentive without being pushy. Her menu knowledge was excellent and enabled us to order exactly what we wanted. My wife was given a taste of the two sauvignon blanc and was able to choose the one she liked.. The food was nicely cooked, the sharing skinny platter and a main course left us sated. Value for money in a cool soothing atmosphere, what's not to like. This is now my number Nicholson's.
