Excellent, understated service, good food, great sparkling wine, buzzing atmosphere. All in all a great place to meet friends for a long lunch.

From Michelin-starred chefs Chris and Jeff Galvin, Galvin at The Athenaeum champions the finest in British produce. Stepping away from their trademark French-inspired menus, modern takes on classic British dishes join Galvin favourites and a quintessential afternoon tea within this famous hotel.

The Galvin menu showcases a host of rich flavours, in dishes such as Dingley Dell pork belly with black pudding and an apple and hazelnut salad, yellowfin tuna burger with white cabbage slaw and avocado, and potato gnocchi with braised short rib and Portobello mushrooms. Galvin classics include duck liver parfait with red onion marmalade and toasted brioche, and steak tartare with toasted sourdough.

Afternoon tea at The Athenaeum on Piccadilly is as refined as its setting. Tuck into classic finger sandwiches, pastries and cakes, and add a glass of fine champagne for extra indulgence.

Offering sophisticated dining in a 5-star setting, Galvin at The Athenaeum in London sits a short walk from both Green Park and Hyde Park Corner Tube stations.

We arrived early for our table so thought we would have a drink in the bar first. The tables were filthy and no one came to serve us or to clear the table. We then went to the restaurant and after looking at the menu for 10 minutes were told that they didn't have any of the main courses. We were then given a "reprinted" menu which had mains which were clearly cheaper and less quality. We then left and noted that they were still advertising the set menu and mains (being a roast) on a board outside the hotel. The service was terrible and we would not recommend the restaurant.

The staff were lovely as well as the hotel. We had the fixed price menu. The sparkling wine was not chilled and the food overall was nothing special. I was very disappointed. This was probably the worst meal deal I've ever had

The food and service were good but not outstanding. We were disappointed by the pastries which were a bit large. There were 5 types and 2 of each for 5 of us so to taste each one we had to cut them up which was messy.
Although the seating was comfortable we were round a coffe table so it wasn't comfortable for eating. The corner we were in was very dimly lit too. We would have preferred to be somewhere brighter.
I had emailed asking for a little special something for one of the guest's 60th birthday but nothing appeared which was disappointing.

Good food and service but the ambiance of the place isn't as good as Windows (by Galvin) so would choose the latter each time from the two

I booked this restaurant last minute and took a friend who is also a client. The food was delicious and filling, the ambiance was lovely and relaxing. The restaurant filled up with diners and had a buzz of conversation but the noise levels were perfectly acceptable. The service was faultless and a much higher standard that usual.

Great, friendly service to accompany excellent food. The deal was such good value. We all had different dishes and they were all lovely. Very knowledgeable staff about nut allergies which was a rare treat. Davide and William were a credit to the restaurant. Thank you for letting us have a super meal out.
