Wonderful food in beautiful restaurant. Shame music coming from kitchen interfered with music in dining room.

Awarded 2 AA Rosettes for its excellent cuisine, Asquiths is a contemporary British restaurant in Cornwall. Its marriage of exquisitely presented food with elegant and understated design was enough to see the restaurant receive the silver award in the Cornwall Tourism Awards’ Restaurant of the Year 2012.

The select, refined Asquiths menu begins with delicate options like chicken and black pudding terrine with charred leek and mushroom vinaigrette, moving onto sumptuous mains like Boccadon Farm veal rump with slow-cooked beef shin, mushroom steamed pudding, braised puy lentils, celeriac cream and curly kale. Delectable desserts include a blood orange and chocolate verrine with thyme shortbread crumb and crème fraiche ice cream.

White tablecloths and rustic exposed Cornish brickwork in the Asquiths restaurant in Cornwall keep company with a bespoke handmade mirror from an artisanal glass maker based in nearby Launceston. Artwork from a local artist graces the monochrome walls, contributing to a relaxed, unassuming dining ambience.

Asquiths is a 3-minute walk over the River Fowey from Lostwithiel Station.

Couldn't wait to return after a previous evening at the restaurant when we were on holiday in February. Food individually and besutifully prepared. The quality of the food was first class. Lovely warm welcome and excellent attention from staff during the meal. We were not disappointed and the only downside of the evening was that we couldn't manage a dessert. It's a must if we visit the town again and hopefully others will read this and eat there too.

Another great meal. Stone Bass was perfect. Cheeses particularly interesting especially red goats cheese. Wide range of wines. Knowledgeable waitress. Gluten free choices a bonus.

Very good food and service. This little restaurant in the Cornish town of Lostwithiel was a lovely find on my holiday to Cornwall and has a menu you would find in a good restaurant in London.

Excellent evening. All of the food was amazing. We had a very enjoyable relaxing evening. We had the 5 taster meal. We loved every course. The service was fantastic and the atmosphere was lovely. A perfect evening.

I went to Asquiths with my sister - who lives in Lostwithiel but had never been there before - and my niece. It was our last evening together before my niece and I went back to our respective homes, and I went with high hopes from reading the menu outside. I wasn't disappointed. The interior feels spacious and is unfussy and relaxed. We were greeted with a smile and the service was well-judged all evening. My sister and niece are both vegetarian, and only had one choice of starter and main course, which might be my only niggle. However, we decided to stick with main and dessert only, and the vegetarian main course was deemed absolutely delicious by both the veggies with me! I had the bream which was also fantastic. The food looked beautiful as well as tasting superb. We all went for the same dessert, which was the lemon polenta cake with cheesecake topping and raspberry sorbet. Unbelievable!
If you are holidaying in the area and fancy an evening which will leave you with a smile of near bliss then you can't go far wrong here. Only open from 7-9 from Tuesday to Saturday, and I would definitely book. We had 2 courses from the a la carte menu plus a couple of soft drinks, few ciders and a couple of glasses of wine which came to almost exactly £30 per head before the tip.
I shall definitely visit again next time I am down.

Superb experience. Food was exquisite and quite the best that I have ever eaten (and I have travelled to more than 25 countries and eaten at some very swanky places). Service exemplary. I regularly recommend this restaurant and will continue to do so. A real gem.
