We dined there at lunchtime. The decor is dominated by dark wood panelling which makes for a rather formal atmosphere but the staff were welcoming and friendly. The menu was comfort food oriented, good food but perhaps lacked the wow factor we had been anticipating for a MPW establishment. No complaints though and we would recommend it. We were able to use one of our discount cards which made it very good value.

1.00pm the whole meal was delicious only comment we had was that the "bread and butter " pudding whilst being absolutely scumptious was not in our opinion a traditional b&b pud it was more like an egg custard

On two occasions, we have had to wait over an hour for our main course. Waiters excellent and apologetic. Food last night was diabolical! Fish pie was full of salt and piped potato topping dry and tasteless. Other people in the restaurant were complaining about lengthy delays on both occasions we ate there. Chef needs sacking and Marco needs to get over there to sort the kitchen out!!! Otherwise, will not eat there again.

Our Table was booked for 20:30 we finaly sat down at 21:40. Althogh the staff tried the evening was not good. This was supposed to be a special occasion & turned out to be a waste of our time. The starter was ok nothing amazing. The main course, Pork which my wife chose should have come with a chain saw as it was so tough. The veg sides Triple cooked chips was again Ok but the creamy mash tasted like smash out of a pack. I have always been a fan MPW so was very dispointed with the whp;e experience. The staff tried to make it better & i was not charged which was appreciated but as thios was our anniversary it was very dissapointing overall.

Food off a la carte a bit expensive and disappointed with my prawns, tasteless and rubbery ,main course of rib eye covered in some gravy and had appearance of braising steakand not brill for [$]Overall whilst reataurant is more attractive previous operator with a changing blackboard using local produce was a more enjoyable eating experience Stayed here on 4 occasions now ,rooms as before but in fairness moderately priced at [$] b and b and very good breakfast.Plenty of other eating places in the village.Maybe we just touched unlucky
