We greatly enjoyed our meal, noting in particular the real taste of the pork, the potatoes and the apple sauce.
Paradoxically we found the taste of the ice cream afterwards too strong. The service was excellent. Afterwards we enjoyed a most delightful walk along the Bedford Level towards Mepal

We 4 have met together here for lunch at the Anchor Inn now three times and really enjoyed our visits. We also go for walks along the dyke when the weather lets us.
We especially like the warmth of the reception on entering and the cosy atmosphere inside. Yesterday we were early and asked if we could have coffee while waiting for the others to arrive. "Of course you can" says the lady, and she brought some within seconds!
The food was perfect. I liked the idea of the option of a little bread and olives to replace a starter so as not to be too full before the main course. My vegetarian dish could not have been better and the desserts out of this world. The service was lovely and we enjoyed being asked cheerfully during the meal if we were happy. We were very happy and will certainly come again.
BEWARE the low overhead beam at the bar!

We always enjoy the Anchor. Pleasant, friendly staff, good food and nice ambience. Prices might not be the cheapest but reflect the good quality of the offering. All servings were though to be good, although Duck Breast was thought by one guest to be on the small side- but we blame the duck for that I guess!

It was a busy evening. Service was quite chaotic - different waitresses asking the same thing. Food not as good as we have enjoyed previously, especially vegetarian main course was quite poor.

As always The Anchor delivers top class food and service. 5 diners all with different choices all served at the same time with unbeatable fabulous food. Three young people delivered service that some people with years of experience could not have equalled. The Anchor is very special with attention to quality and detail. Thank you so much and we will be back soon.

Have not visited for some 5 years, but food, service and ambience exactly as it was: excellent.
Will not leave it so long for the next visit.
