Booked for the 2 course lunch at £20 with a good selection of 4 items per course. The pasta mains was a very large portion, as was the grilled fish. Nice surroundings for a quiet lunch. Attentive service.

The waiter was a foreign student who tried very hard to please us. Unfortunately he wa let down by the kitchen which sent a starter that was lukewarm at best. A diner at an adjoining table had ordered the same starter and she sent her plate back for the same reason. We had waited 30 minutes for the starter.
The maître d' apologised and offered another starter free until fresh plates of our ordered starter arrived. One hour had passed. The rest of the meal was fine but after 2 starters, it was all too much.

We choose Amba Hotel, as near to Oxford street and as both live different areas of London. The restaurant was easy to get too just off Marble Arch tube station. Restaurant staff were all friendly and checked at intervals to ensure we were happy with dishes and if need any thing else. I had the Soup of day Carrot and Corriander followed by Seafood linguini and my friend had the bread platter followed cod and chips. I don't usually have soup but it was a cold evening and I needed it to warm me up. The soup was delicious and warmed me up. The main had excellent section of seafood and was very filling. So we were too full to make room for any desserts.

The manager, Alfred and the waiters were great, really flexible when we had a last minute time change and additions to the group.

Lovely food too, a good balance of choices.

we have dined here several times now and it is always a very pleasant experience. Its a spacious restaurant with a lovely bar adjoining it. The service can be a little slow at time but last night it was very good. The food was great- I had a lovely sweet potato soup followed by fillets of lemon sole, both were delicious. My husband had a very good sirloin steak cooked to perfection and the apple tart tatin is definitely to be recommended.

The tea and sandwiches were very nice but the scones were overcooked and crunchy, cakes were little unimaginative. Our waiter was very polite and attentive.
