Described as ‘very special’ by critic Jay Rayner in his ruthless Guardian column, Allium showcases European haute cuisine. Look out onto the idyllic hotel grounds from the bright and airy dining room.

Championing market-fresh produce and culinary flair, the Allium menu presents innovative dishes like chilli & caramel-glazed quail with Chinese cabbage, or slow-cooked pork belly with spiced black pudding and crushed carrots.

As well as a Sunday lunch menu offering high-end twists on the great British roast, the Allium afternoon tea menu features quirky treats. Alongside premium JING teas and fresh sandwiches, sample delicate macarons and peanut butter crunch biscuits.

A crisp, whitewashed setting filled with mauve furnishings and bold modern artwork, Allium restaurant in Bath is housed in the Best Western Abbey Hotel. Bath Spa Rail Station is a 3-minute walk away.

The food was excellent and the booking service good. We enjoyed the evening very much. The ambiance is rather hotel-like but apart from that it was good.

Got asked to order before even being sat at the dinner table.

Nice ambience, good/discreet service. Food was well-suited to our taste, being interesting but not too avant-garde, and perfectly cooked and presented.
Wine list includes good quality reds at reasonable prices.

We had excellent service and a good table by the Window. It started well with a free glass of wine as part of Bath reward scheme. The set 3 course meal was excellent value. I enjoyed the beetroot starter and the beef fillet was very tender and cooked just as I like it. The portion sizes were good with a delectable creme brûlée for dessert. A very enjoyable experience..

Afternoon Tea was very special and delicious, particularly the freshly baked scones. I was very touched when staff presented my daughter with a chocolate birthday cake. Service first rate. Atmosphere very good. Champagne the perfect accompaniment!

We came for an early meal before the rugby. Food and service were excellent and so I am perplexed as to why there was only one other couple dining. The restaurant is so close to the ground surely you should be able to attract those who enjoy a decent meal. Ross was in fine form - I understand that Chris has moved on
