A great venue adjacent to Birmingham canal side, with loads of atmosphere, milling crowds and street performers. We booked our table here and were quickly shown to a quieter area within this very busy pub. The service here was very professional and the menu is a mixture of traditional pub food and more gastropub. We didn't have to wait long and our meal was delicious to be finished off with a lovely cocktail reasonably priced at £4.75. Staff are very polite and ensure everything is running smoothly. We would definately recommend this venue especially if you are attending the Barclay Card Arena

Our service here was absolutely abysmal. After being shown to our table we waited ten minutes without seeing a member of staff before I gave up and ordered drinks from the bar, then it took a further twenty minutes for our wine to be brought to the table. At this point I requested that our order be taken as the waiter went to leave the table. Five minutes later the waiter came back as he had forgotten our order en route to the till and ten minutes after that we were told that one of our starters was unavailable. After 40 minutes I enquired about the starters to be told they were ready, but no one had told the waiter so he hadn't served them. When they arrived it took over 5 minutes for him to find us some cutlery. The bruschetta was soggy and unpleasant, the prawns were ok, but cold. We got no check back on the starter and after fifteen minutes with dirty plates I had to go to the bar to ask for them to be cleared and the mains to be brought. At this point I was told the manager would come and speak to us. He served the mains an hour and ten minutes afert we had arrived and told us he would return at the end of the meal. The food was ok, but really how hard is it to cook a rare steak and fry a couple of fishcakes? On multiple occaisions we were told it had been "one of those days", which I understand but honestly, if I had been told that at the beginning I could have gone somewhere else. At the end the manager was apologetic and told us he would "sort something". We were offered drinks, which we didn't want, given that we'd been there almost 2 hours, so we asked for the bill. After being brought the bill at full price, the manager then knocked £5 off and I paid because I really didn't have it in me to complain further and I just wanted to get out of the building. A quick bite to eat and a nice glass of wine after the theatre turned into a total debacle. We had also had "one of those days" to put it mildly and had come out to relax. What a mistake.

Excellent food, service would have been perfect had the waiter not 'forgotten' to come for our dessert order.

The food was good but the service was very slow. We booked to eat at 4.30 because it looked on the website like all reservations from 5pm had gone. However it looked like no reservations were being taken because you had no staff. We eventually managed to order coffees at the end of our meal but when they eventually arrived they were stone cold. The replacements took a very long time also. On a day when you knew it would be busy your lack of staff was incomprehensible. Not sure I will return.

Both my friend and I had the steak ciabatta sandwich which was very disappointing. I wonder whether they had run out of bread over the weekend and only had one ciabatta roll left as we seemed to be given half a roll each. The bread was also stale and had been toasted. It was so hard you couldn't eat it as a sandwich but had to deconstruct it and demolish it in bits. Food quality here is usually good but I imagine they must have had a busy weekend and had run out of food for the Monday lunch time we visited. Service was, however, attentive and helpful.
