Winner of an impressive Michelin star, 3 stunning AA Rosettes and praised in some of the industry’s most prestigious guides, Alimentum offers modern European fine dining. Discerning restaurant critic AA Gill described Alimentum’s creations as a ‘gastronomic pleasure’.

Embracing the use of slow cooking techniques to accentuate texture and flavour, head chef Mark Poynton crafts an innovative repertoire of dishes. Refined offerings on the Alimentum menu include quail parfait with onion and chicory, or beef sirloin and cheek with onion ash and carrot. For dessert, experimental infusions of flavour include dark chocolate with pear, olive oil and sea salt, or cherry with pistachio and tarragon.

Described as ‘illuminating’ by The Good Food Guide, the Alimentum restaurant wine list brings together bio-dynamic and organic blends, sourced from boutique producers. Made using fresh seasonal fruits and homemade fruit purees, Alimentum cocktails are mixed by talented flight mixologists.

A glittering jewel on the UK restaurant scene, Alimentum Cambridge is championed as the ‘hottest ticket in Cambridge’ in The Good Food Guide 2012. Cambridge Rail Station is a 3-minute drive away. Parking is available at the NCP car park on Clifton Way via Cherry Hinton Road.

We so enjoyed a Monday lunchtime at Alimentum. Service was excellent and informative, especially when choosing a delightful wine that suited our disparate choice of starters and mains. We were never in doubt that we wanted to go for three courses as each course was so exciting. The duck liver, passion fruit starter was a dream, we loved the puddings too, the sparse descriptions embellished by the manager and the bar-b-q orange dish truly fab.

It's nice to have a Michelin star restaurant in Cambridge. The food is very good, the service is sharp and knowledgeable, but the interiors give the impression of a cold station's waiting room. Fine dining is also about getting the ambience right and here they fail miserably. The oddest thing is a long window into the kitchen where they put a table in front. If you have the misfortune to sit there you can't stop feeling stared at by other guests because people are naturally curious of what's going on behind you and when you take a seat you are welcomed by a row of tupper boxes with ingredients in them. Not what you want to see. You have a good meal on offer, now find your feet to create the atmosphere it deserves. Happy to help with a few snazzy and simple ideas.

The dinner was fine. The chef obviously likes tart and sour food, especially in the deserts. Some of the choose of crockery detracted from the dished. The live music was a little loud and just made the other dinners shout at each other.
