Winner of an impressive Michelin star, 3 stunning AA Rosettes and praised in some of the industry’s most prestigious guides, Alimentum offers modern European fine dining. Discerning restaurant critic AA Gill described Alimentum’s creations as a ‘gastronomic pleasure’.

Embracing the use of slow cooking techniques to accentuate texture and flavour, head chef Mark Poynton crafts an innovative repertoire of dishes. Refined offerings on the Alimentum menu include quail parfait with onion and chicory, or beef sirloin and cheek with onion ash and carrot. For dessert, experimental infusions of flavour include dark chocolate with pear, olive oil and sea salt, or cherry with pistachio and tarragon.

Described as ‘illuminating’ by The Good Food Guide, the Alimentum restaurant wine list brings together bio-dynamic and organic blends, sourced from boutique producers. Made using fresh seasonal fruits and homemade fruit purees, Alimentum cocktails are mixed by talented flight mixologists.

A glittering jewel on the UK restaurant scene, Alimentum Cambridge is championed as the ‘hottest ticket in Cambridge’ in The Good Food Guide 2012. Cambridge Rail Station is a 3-minute drive away. Parking is available at the NCP car park on Clifton Way via Cherry Hinton Road.

Had a fantastic evening at Alimentum on Saturday. The food was fabulous and the staff were attentive but not overbearing, very knowledgable and happy to accommodate dishes without meat or dairy for one of our party. I look forward to the next opportunity to visit and may be tempted to try the tasting menu next time.

Excellent food and wine. All waiters friendly and attentive. Slow relaxed lunch over 3 hours which we really enjoyed. Not cheap but it's a special treat! Just one point -the usher was a bit cool upon our arrival despite it being quiet at the time.

The welcome was very friendly and we sat at the bar and had a glass of champagne. The bar person was friendly and knowledgeable. I was surprised to see him decant a previously opened bottle of champagne in to the newly opened bottle.
The pre starter and starters were delicious as were the pre dessert and dessert.
The main course of calves liver was tough with gristle and still have blood valves in it. My wife's hake had one element that was extremely salty. I pointed this out when the plates were taken away yet at no time did we receive an apology for this poor food.
Another note was that the server bringing the food described each dish but her English was poor and it was hard to understand what she was saying.
Overall an experience that we would not repeat.

Chose the 7 course tasting menu. It was exactly the same dishes as it was one month ago. Food was terrific. Staff were excellent.
It's pricey (a meal for two with the cheapest bottle of wine £230), anc for that fee a white table cloth would have be nice. The interior is quite dark, lots of black and red which made me think it may have been a Japanese resteraunt before? I would recommend.

Second visit to the Alimentum, this time four of us for my partners birthday on a Wednesday evening so fairly quiet. Very nice food and atmosphere/service.......a good location for us as we live a few minutes walk away so no driving involved which is good in Cambridge as the traffic/parking experience is poor. For a two course meal for three girls and three courses for me plus the extra "tasters" from the kitchen and a couple of bottles of wine it averaged out at £85/person, so reasonable for one of the better restaurants in Cambridge.
