Nice staff, very helpful. Decor of restaurant a bit out of character for the country house. Food not great, fillet steak over cooked, then served up cold when chef attempted again to do a rare steak. Staff very apologetic.

The restaurant staff accommodated our dietary requests without hesitation.

We came for afternoon tea for my Dad's birthday. The food was fantastic...even the gluten free food!

The evening was excellent. The chateaubriand was superb.
The breakfast was disappointing. The fried eggs were overcooked the with yolks being hard. The bacon was tired, probably pre-cooked and cold.

very nice venue , great views, nicely decorated, booked for afternoon tea for a birthday treat, great teas, cakes, scones and sandwiches, however having one waitress to serve all the tables did mean long waits..... 3 people and half an hour to get the bill. !!

The waiter service was excellent - attentive but never fawning. The menu was varied for a lunchtime and the food was very good. Particularly enjoyed the starters and desserts. But the main courses were equally delicious and the beef my wife had was first class - too much for her! The restaurant venue was dull and box like with no views of the lovely outside gardens. We were looking at a wall and could easily have been anywhere or in someone's living room.

The staff were very pleasant and accommodating the presentation of the meals was excellent, however the food itself could have been hotter, and being Yorkshire people the pudding with the beef, which was delicious, was dry and chewy as if it had been kept warm as opposed to freshly made.
The room felt very relaxed with subtle decor, altogether a good experience. I do however feel that the price of drinks in the champagne bar is a joke and on subsequent occasions I won't be paying £15 for a simple gin and tonic.

Our visit to Alexander House on Sunday 9th October was very enjoyable indeed. It was a gift for Sunday lunch and was our first visit although we live so close to the hotel. The staff were welcoming, attentive and very polite and professional from the greeting we received at the front door right through to the bar staff and restaurant staff who looked after us perfectly, they are all a credit to the hotel and do you proud. We both enjoyed our starters and both chose the roast beef which was perfectly cooked and delicious with generous portions and side dishes. A thoroughly enjoyable experience.

Lovely hotel. Very grand atmosphere. Food ok but not amazing and certainly not worth the price.
We were left waiting for almost an hour to pay our bill. £17 service charge added to our bill which I refused to pay. Offered extra glasses of champagne and was not told that they cost £10 each! (Thought they would be included in the already expensive £38.50 price we were paying for afternoon tea!!)

the food was fabulous, the waitress Dana (?) was absolutely lovely.
I didn't book the breakfast in my package and I found this not great value for money £20 and there really wasn't much to it.
We have had many afternoon teas in hotels and unfortunately I would say this was not as nice as I've had before.
Such a shame as this place is absolutely gorgeous, I will go back but mainly for the spa.
