Afternoon tea was a memorable experience. The setting was beautiful, the room we took tea in was elegant and comfortable and the staff were pleasant and attentive. Afternoon tea can be a hit and miss event, but here I can honestly say it met all our expectations and more. The food was perfect, from the fresh sandwiches with a good selection of fillings, the scone, one each, was a good as I have ever had with a lovely crisp outside and wonderfully soft inside. I admitt that we didn't try every thing as there was really more food than we could eat. The small but perfectly formed cakes were mouthwatering ,and although we did leave a couple we were asked if we wanted them bagged to take away with us. It is a tea that I have already recommended to family and friends and hope I am lucky enough to return.

Food and service we're excellent. Our waiter was very attentive and maitre d also. I had a query about a starter and was given a full explanation. Liked the tablet for wine selection, and very pleased with my choice.
Coffee in the bar was very pleasant. Nice to sit in a comfy chair, as we didn't find dining chairs overly comfortable.
Overall a very pleasant meal in ambient surroundings

The most hideous experience I've had! So bad it was laughable, service appalling, table in private room (not requested) soul destroying, afternoon tea, when served 2 hrs late was acceptable, many many customers extremely angry on what should have been a lovely experience for the mothers in our party, Mothering Sunday!
