Disappointing. I booked this as a treat for my Mum and Dad having enjoyed it myself last year. They told the waiter they didn't want any smoked salmon sandwiches and they weren't offered a swap like I had been and then having only had three sandwiches when they asked for extra, they were told they had to pay for them. I wasn't charged for the extra ones I had last year. I'm not sure if the policy has changed or they just got poor service, whichever it was, I felt disappointed for them. Where I had been recommending it to friends I won't be in future. My Dad said he felt afternoon tea at our local tearoom was better (and it's a fraction of the price).

Food was delicious and our waiter (Constantine) was attentive without fussing, polite and friendly without being overly familiar. Spot on service from him.
Sadly, the rest of the staff didn't seem bothered, from the doorman to the lady taking us to our table & seemed to rely on others to help you. As they all seemed to do the same, it was no wonder I had to ask 3 times for a coffee.
The harpist was lovely but only played for 10 minutes at a time. During her breaks, other music was played but the volume was too high causing people to talk louder and louder.
Had a nice visit but not an amazing one. Wouldn't have been impressed if I'd spent over £100 (full price) on this. All in all, a shame as I've wanted to go to the Waldorf since I was a little girl.

Had a lovely afternoon tea with my daughter - beautiful sandwiches, scones and cakes, fresh bubbles and super attentive service. Better than many other well known names in town. Highly recommended.

I thought the food was great value for money but sadly found the service very lacking. Only at the end of the meal were we asked if everything was ok and when I wanted a glass of water I couldn't get a waiter's attention and had to go looking. There was quite a wait before this arrived.

One of the teapots was cracked and leaked on the table so we had to ask for it to be replaced. We asked for alternatives to the smoked salmon but it was brought anyway so we had to ask again. The sandwiches had very sparse filling; and the wine cupboard door immediately to my left was left wide open, blocking me in. The "optional" 12% service charge was simply added to the bill, even though I did not think the service was anything other than below average, and undeserving of any remuneration. This decidedly mediocre and disappointing experience cost me almost £100, and was not worth half that. Not recommended.

A friend and I booked afternoon tea. When I booked, I notified them that I was vegetarian and reminded our waitress on arrival. When the food was brought to the table I was offered tuna and salmon sandwiches and the waitress was surprised that I didn't eat fish. It took some time for a new plate of sandwiches to arrive - 5 finger sandwiches, 4 of which were hummus! I asked if I could change these for a "selection". We also noticed that 5 sandwiches were mentioned on the menu but my friend had only been given 4. It again took quite some time for my sandwiches and my friend's additional sandwich to be brought. My vegetarian selection consisted of 1 egg mayonnaise, 2 cream cheese and cucumber and 2 tomato!!!!! None of the fillings in either of our sandwiches were impressive - ham seemed to be very cheap quality and very, very thinly sliced.
We were given a glass of champagne on arrival but had to ask for tea to be served and we had to ask for this a second time.
We were never asked if we had everything we needed nor were we offered a refill of tea.
The experience was not as we expected - we have had afternoon tea at other restaurants/hotels in London and this was the most disappointing and we would not return.
I have never left a review on Trip Advisor before but felt compelled to do it this time as we left the restaurant thoroughly disappointed but didn't want to complain on the day as it would spoil the afternoon. If we had paid the advertised price we would definitely have complained.

I booked this as a special treat for my friend and myself. It was certainly an experience to remember; beautiful surroundings, fine china, immaculate table linen and excellent service. The food was wonderful and beautifully presented.

We started our tea with a glass of Mumms champagne. The choice of leaf teas was extensive as you would expect from the Waldorf. The sandwiches were on different breads with four different fillings, followed by scones with jam and cream plus a variety of small cakes. Overall a lovely relaxing afternoon in a beautiful setting. Thoroughly enjoyable.
