Beautiful room - look up at the gorgeous ceiling & chandeliers, sip your champagne, and take in the beautiful Art Deco surroundings. Caring staff, wonderful food, and amazing teas all presented in a large wooden caddy, made this a birthday afternoon to remember.

It was my daughter's 14th birthday. She loved being pampered.
Great range of speciality tea, sandwiches, cakes and scones.
The adults were also very well looked after with a glass of champagne on arrival.
Grand surroundings and excellent service.

The afternoon tea experience for £26 was I thought value for money but I am not sure I would have wanted to have paid £47. The waitress was attentive and very pleasant. The room was less inspiring than some we have visited and the tables for 2 where we were placed were too close together making it impossible not to hear the conversations of others. The food was certainly adequate in volume and quality. Continuity on reception to the tearoom would have meant that my wife was not challenged on her return from the rest room which I understand was quite abrupt. The overall experience would nevertheless be rated 8 out of 10 in my view

We arrived at 3.15 and were given the menu card which was careful explained to us. I noted how the staff were going around and was pleased with what I saw. Sadly it took over 15 mins for anyone to come to take our order. The sandwiches were lovely but we then had a change of staff which was explained to us very well. I had not even finished my last sandwich and the plate was taken away and we just sat there. The waiter then eventually came to us and asked if everything was OK and we asked for the cake and then it dawn on him that we had not been given any. When the cake arrived we were not told what anything was, as I had watched other staff do and I was going to ask for a photo but he disappeared too quickly. The scones were dry, the rest delicious. As we seemed to be at the end of afternoon tea run all waiters seemed to disappear and other tables like us were experiencing problems. Sandwiches with no tea and at one point these people nearly got cake as well before the tea arrived. Sadly the service failed in so many ways, there is a point where not being rushed is being ignored.

Was not impressed with the Waldorfs afternoon tea. The sandwiches had virtually no fillings, the scones were tiny with just one little pot of jam and one of cream to share between two people and only one of each tiny cake so had to pick who had which!
The only good things were the service and champagne!!
