Found within one of London’s most famous 5-star hotels, The Thames Foyer at The Savoy offers its acclaimed afternoon tea. A domed glass ceiling floods this space with natural light, and a live pianist offers a calming musical accompaniment.

A long-time member of the benchmark-setting Tea Guild, The Savoy’s afternoon tea is meticulously crafted in-house by resident Pastry Chef, Ludwig Hely. Enjoy a stand of finger sandwiches and homemade scones served with clotted cream, and strawberry jam made to a treasured Savoy recipe. To follow, a range of delicious seasonal-themed cakes and pastries are served tableside from a silver platter.

Rare teas sourced from China, India, Sri Lanka and Iran are served in the finest polished silverware and delicate china tea ware, while flutes of chilled champagne can be selected for an extra-indulgent afternoon tea in London. Guests can also visit the on-site patisserie, where a menagerie of sweet treats are served alongside chocolates crafted by in-house chocolatiers.

One of the capital’s most celebrated afternoon tea experiences, The Savoy on the Strand sits 5 minutes’ walk from Charing Cross station.

Lovely experience for my Aunt's 80th birthday. Was a little disappointed with the sandwich selection, would have preferred more english traditional. I had previously been 3 years ago and from memory the selection was much better. Also would have liked Macaroon's again like last time. But on the whole the service was excellent and the whole ambience and surroundings was just lovely. Very costly but an amazing memory maker would have been nice to have taken a doggie box of cakes home again like last time!

The tea was superb, and the atmosphere lovely. Top quality service, as you would expect from Savoy. However, despite booking a deal via bookatable we were presented with a standard price bill. The difference wasn't big and we didn't want to raise it as an issue during our anniversary, but we left wondering why use bookatable at all if deals details are not saved with reservations...

Elegant surroundings, light and airy. Table presentation and service beautifully done. Afternoon Tea was accompanied by Pianist with wide repertoire of melodies. Sandwiches were twists on the classics and full of flavour, prompting us to order seconds. Scones were amazing with the homemade lemon curd an added bonus. Pastries were rich, indulgent and fresh. Unfortunately we were too full for the cake course. Tea choices suitable for any palette and constantly being refreshed; we've never drunk so much tea. Although the booking says tables should be relinquished within 1hr 45 mins, we were never rushed and were encouraged to take our time and savour every moment. Most definitely value for money, would recommend and consider visiting again in the future.

A little disappointed on this occasion I said on booking form it was for A birthday and also the waiter asked if we were celebrating something we said yes a birthday yet my friend didn't receive the cake and candle with happy birthday playing on piano.
We were also only given four scones between three when I have been before we usually get two each so had to ask for another two which we found slightly embarrassing as looked as we were being greedy.
Overall the savoy is a lovely experience staff attentive and polite.
