Overlooking peaceful gardens in the heart of London, Afternoon Tea at The Montague is set in the 4-star Montague Hotel. Recognised for excellence, The Montague has received a special ‘Award of Excellence’ from the UK Tea Council.

The Safari-themed afternoon tea menu showcases an inventive selection. Indulge in finger sandwiches with African-spiced chicken and apricot, freshly baked scones with Devonshire clotted cream, and an array of tempting treats including the giraffe-print macaron with salted caramel, toasted coconut mousse, banana meringue, and an extensive selection of traditional, flavoured, aromatic, fruit and green teas. The signature leopard cocktail is a must-have accompaniment: made with Amarula cream liquor, and decorated with leopard spots and paw prints.

The conservatory-style dining room at The Montague in Russell Square is bathed in natural light, and boasts views out onto the Bedford Estate, as well as the hotel's manicured private gardens.

A hidden gem in Bloomsbury, The Montague London offers timeless British elegance in tranquil surroundings. Russell Square Tube Station is a 6-minute walk away.

Very pleasant experience. Friendly reception by staff. Wonderful, bright and peaceful atmosphere in the conservatory. Beautiful hotel interior - old townhouse with a view of the garden. Delicious sandwiches, scones and cakes. Good selection of teas. Inventive method for timing of the tea. Excellent value for money. Perfect availability of alternoon tea already from 12:30. Friendly and capable serving staff. Highly recommended.

Wonderful afternoon tea and best scones in the city!

The staff were impressively friendly and attentive. The scones, jams, and things were very tasty. The room was cozy and nice. I did feel that the teas themselves might have been a bit higher in quality (and selection with respect to the black teas). But otherwise it was fantastic!

A nice if not spectacular afternoon tea experience. The room was the main disappointment as it was a small dining room with tables close together and not particularly comfortable chairs. I was hoping for, and the photographs suggested, comfortable sofas and armchairs. The food itself was lovely, the staff brought us more sandwiches and we had more than enough of everything else. Service was fine although we had to chase down staff on one occasion to get a refill of our teas which had gone cold. The hotel is beautiful as is the are of London in which it is located. I'm not sure I'd return for an afternoon tea though.
