The Milestone Hotel is a an exquisite gem nestling in Kensington High Street. The staff are exceptional and the Milestone serves the very best afternoon tea I have ever had. Excellent indeed.

Lovely surroundings - building and furnishings. Had a lovely mojito in bar whilst we waited for our table - very helpful barman. However, we booked for 5pm and they said they would come and get us when table was ready. Eventually we asked at 5:45pm and sat down for our tea at nearly 6pm!!!!!!!!!!!
Great ambience until an electronic keyboard, microphone and singer arrived 30mins after we were seated and proceeded to play non-stop for the next 1 and 1/2 hours - way too loud for the room and made talking with my friend onorous having to talk loudly and leaning to be able to hear - very wearing and ruined our catch-up.
The tea choices were good and the three we tried were good. Gentlemen's tea - beef Wellington, prawn and fish cake yum, duck ball and other thing? were yuk. Sandwiches - bog standard and boring. Scones - maple bacon and plain - old, hard and very poor - terrible. Mini Cakes - only three we liked - coffee mini muffin (more like vanilla - no coffee taste!!) dark choc mini loaf cake, vanilla mini cheesecake.
Loved location and ambience (minus electric keyboard tinkler and singer) Food looked good but poor taste and terrible scone quality means we would not go again!!

We waited 45 minutes before the afternoon tea food tray arrived at the table. With a pregnant wife this is far to long to wait for food that has been already pre booked and not even cooked to order. We got an appology and an explanation that some misstake had happened, no other compensation was offered. I think a small gesture of offering something as compensation would have been appropriate at a place that charges 48 pounds for afternoon tea.

I read many good words about Afternoon tea at the Milestone Hotel. And now I can say every good word is really true. Everything was perfect: ambience, service and of course food. I will recommend to my friends and I hope to return to your hotel for Afternoon tea once more.

Service Staff was beyond nice. I will say the kitchen I give a very, very low score. I ordered the steak frites & it was without a doubt the worst steak I have ever had. First the kitchen didn't notice my ticket, so 45 minutes after I had placed my order my server came out to say he was sorry & they forgot my order. My 3 year old was at this point done with her princess tea, loaded with sugar & ready to go as an hour sitting is long for a 3 year old. The service staff went above & beyond to make the best of the situation. I was offered a glass of Champagne, but was not feeling like a drink at 1pm. Steak arrived after an hour & was truly horrible. It was the worst cut of meat ever, tough as old boots, about 70% gristle & fat. The bit that was meat was so tough it was a chore to cut. I ate a couple bites & decided it was not worth the effort to saw through. This sounds like an exaggeration, but in all honesty I have a bruise on my hand from pressing so hard to try & cut through. I gave my daughter a small bite & after over 5 minutes of chewing she asked if she could take it out of her mouth. I also had zero flavour or seasoning, so I just left it. The service staff had been so kind & were so embarrassed it had taken over an hour to arrive that I didn't have the heart to complain. The chips I will say were very well cooked & nice.

Wonderful atmosphere and very friendly staff. Nice and quiet place.
The Planter's Mistress tea was to die for. Scones was a bit dry for me but everything else absolutely delightful.
Very good to get a "bring-home-bag" for all the things you could'nt make room for in your stomach.
    I will definitely be back!
