This really was a lovely experience for everyone in the party. The macaroons and chicken sandwiches for huge favourites, as the clotted cream with the fabulous scones.

We had a wonderful time! Generally the food was absolutely delicious!! The staff were all very nice and interacted with my 5 year old beautifully! I go think the actual princess afternoon tea could be improved however. The general cakes were exquisite but nowhere near the level of detail was put into the princess tea which was the reason we chose tea at the milestone. A little bit more magic perhaps!? An icecream cone filled with fruit was a disappointment. The lemon cake far too lemony for a child pallet. Any child loves a bit of popping candy! A lollipop a biscuit in the shape of an animal. The milkshake advertised on the website was not offered. (I forgot this was advertised at the time) my daughter was have LOVED one of those!

Generally a really lovely tea but we just felt Isla cakes were not up to scratch. Nothing lit up her face!

The food was great - not particularly different from other places - but perfectly fine. The Park Room is a lovely, intimate setting - comfortable, quiet, and tastefully decorated in a traditional English way. Live music coming from another room was a nice touch.

The service, however, was surprisingly lacking for an afternoon tea at £40/person. I expected better. Servers either disappeared completely, stood near the entrance unconcerned about guests, or chatted amongst each other. We had to ask multiple times for hot water, refreshed tea, clotted cream, milk, etc. The guests sitting next to us walked all the way out to the hotel lobby to request their bill. Service has the ability to distinguish one place from the next and unfortunately, the service at The Milestone did so in a negative way. Perhaps it was an off day and establishments should be given a second chance, but at £40/per person, we'll likely go elsewhere next time.

I'd suggest spending a bit more for a true luxurious experience at the Mandarin Oriental down the street or for a much better value for your money, John Lewis has a perfectly fine and generous afternoon tea.

We had afternoon tea at the hotel and enjoyed it very much. The service and setting and food were all perfect. This was a wonderful experience, and a treasured memory with my daughter, worth every penny.

I booked a month in advance as a special birthday present for a friend's 30th, but we were given a pop up small table right in the doorway to the room. Other guests, some of which would not have booked so far in advance, were seated in lovely comfortable armchairs with lots of space. The staff were very unapologetic. They obviously overbooked.

The service was excellent and the tea was delicious. The tea sandwiches and scones were our favorite.
