I went to midland for festive afternoon tea with my daughter and her nan, the experience was second to none, firstly we were seated and offered mulled wine, next the waitress explained what was on menu today, we were allowed to change a couple of sandwich fillings to our needs, it all came on lovely stand and waitress explained what fillings sandwiches had and what assortment of cakes we had.I had gluten free option which couldn't fault, I've been for afternoon tea in other places and had gluten free options and they haven't lived up to expectations but today it did, the scones came warm and wrapped up to keep them warm and I say best gluten free scones I've ever had served with clotted cream and jam. We all had pots of tea which were refilled on request, we finished with glass of champagne, there was no rush in service, all the waiters and waitresses very tentative to our needs. The ambience of the octagon theater was lovely, there was plenty of people dining but it wasn't noisy, there was huge Christmas tree in foyer were the waiter to our photo for us in front of tree. This visit was a treat for us all highly recommend the midland if you want somewhere special to go.

Four of us had afternoon tea at the Midland, We love the Midland Hotel, its atmosphere, the beautiful Christmas tree as high as the ceiling, the piano playing in the background, the excellent service, and the way the afternoon tea is served, this was a great experience and it is the second time we have been here for a festive afternoon tea. Some choice of sandwiches would make the experience even more pleasurable as there were a couple of us who either didn't eat salmon/fish or mushrooms, as friends we swapped with each other, but this cut down on all our choices. Maybe two other alternatives could be provided, another time. Saying that, the sandwiches were very neat and tasty and the scones, fresh and warm. the pastries excellent, particularly the miniature orange custard tart and mini mince pie. there was a nice selection of teas on offer and the Midland Earl Grey is to be recommended, with its smooth vanilla flavour. Of course the Champagne and mulled wine were spot on. Roll on December 2017!

Welcoming and exciting area, service and quality of food very good. Comment from one of the party who would have liked more Sandwiches but as it was afternoon tea not really vslid!

Brilliant service very welcoming staff lovely Christmas decorations. However when it was booked the price was£22pp and we were not informed that it would be a festive tea with mulled wine and champagne so priced at £38 which was a lot more than we had budgeted but it was worth every penny

Four of us enjoyed Afternoon Tea in the Octagon Room yesterday. The ambience was calm, quiet and very relaxing and the Octagon Room itself is beautiful. We had asked for more savoury and less sweet dishes, which they had made a note of in advance and were prepared for without a reminder from us. The service could not be faulted and the staff were very attentive. There was an excellent selection of sandwiches and cakes and a very large choice of tea varieties. The whole experience was one of sheer luxury with a feeling of being beautifully but unobtrusively pampered.
