A special treat before we saw our dear friend off on a flight home to Australia. It was a delightful experience with exceptional service and attention to detail. We already plan to make a return visit with family.

Staff were very helpful and pleasant especially the wine waiter. The accommodated my request for no butter on my sandwiches but the request was somehow translated to plain sandwiches. The result was a ham sandwich, cucumber sandwich, chicken sandwich and smoked salmon sandwich with no garnish or other flavourings. The white bread was hard and a little stale. The selection of cakes and their quality could not be faulted. However there was no skimmed milk available which was extremely disappointing, I always find it hard to understand why people always ask when they break the news that non is available is semi skimmed ok? No it is not! It makes a totally different drink. I had to have black tea although hot water was provided to thin down the pot.

Took a friend here for afternoon tea and was very dissapointed. It started off very well, lovely old building, nice ambiance, staff were friendly. The food was disappointing. The sandwiches felt like they had been left out for a while. You don't get any choice in the sandwiches or cakes and unfortunately none were to our taste. We were told you could have unlimited hot drinks but waiting staff seemed to disappear so we only had the 1 pot of tea. I knew how much the afternoon tea was going to be, but what isn't advertised is on top of advertised price they had a service charge and then vat on top so the bill was more than expected. Unfortunately based on my experience I wouldn't return here for afternoon tea and I wouldn't reccomend it to anyone for afternoon tea.

Enjoyed a lovely Afternoon Tea - everything was so fresh, the sandwiches and cakes were delicious and we had two scones each, one plain and one with currants in. A choice of unlimited tea or coffee. The staff were very attentive, helpful and friendly. I would definitely recommend.

Afternoon tea at the Midland Hotel. Very relaxed atmosphere. Attentive, experienced staff who were very knowledgeable about the food they were serving. Efficient and friendly service. Food of excellent quality and presented well. Excellent way to spend a very wet afternoon in Manchester.
