Very attentive staff were aware of the dietary needs two of us had. Atmosphere and ambience very Google - nice to have the pianist playing Favourite was the selection of sandwiches and warm scones

The tea was very good. Service too. Only negative point was the ladies' toilet which had a lot of toilet paper over the floor. They had clearly not been checked.

Lovely sandwiches and cakes although too much cake really. Would have preferred a couple more savoury items but all very nice. Champagne, tea and coffee also very good and service was excellent. Service charge added to the bill though. I would have preferred the option to leave a service charge myself, but it was added to the bill. I don't agree with that!

My wife and I much enjoyed tea at The Midland. The food was excellent and the service simply outstanding: efficient and courteous.

Excellent surroundings. Superb service. However, I wasn't impressed with the afternoon tea. The cakes were delicious but way too many (for 4 of us ). The sandwich fillings were good but the problem I found was with the bread. It was different colours.........black, green and red. Egg mayo on lime green bread ? iIknow it was only food colourings but to me it was totally off putting. Normal bread would have been fine and far more appealing.

Sadly this Afternoon Tea experience fell short of our expectations.
Had to ask 3 separate people for our pit of tea before we were brought it. Unusual you may think but exactly the same tjing happened to the people on the next table.
The food was ok but not the best and I thought the scones particularly dry.
Not what you expect for £22 each.

Wow, what a place! Looks beautiful & intimidating for a couple of country girls. Didn't know where we were going as no signs so asked at reception. Lovely guy actually showed us to where the afternoon tea was served. Another nice guy found us somewhere to wait as we were 45 minutes early. He offered drinks but they didn't arrive until we got to our table. A problem with hot water they said. The tea server was delivered - not a cake stand but what looked like a drawer with no bottom! Modern?! Odd! No idea what most of the things were as the girl serving it was too quick to understand. We guessed. Quite dry sandwiches, cakes and scones. Nice tea. Shame only 1 knife and plate provided and no clearing done so a rather cluttered table. We were offered iced water when we 1st sat down but none came. We asked for water a further 3 times before getting horrid tap water (not even filtered). The next-door table had the same experience but with the tea. They seemed to get our water us their tea. We just laughed, the service was ridiculous! They said they were short staffed due to sickness but we saw lots of people not talking to each other. I mentioned to the supervisor that service was terrible and the food not great and she refunded my bill. A lovely unexpected gesture but not sure I would go for afternoon tea again. Nice people and amazing place though. We had a good laugh with the next table so from that point of view we had a good time unfortunately at the expense of the hotel. Maybe I would try them for other food intead, perhaps it's more fresh. Memorable for our 40th birthday. Good disabled parking, ramp access and loos.
