Tea was lovely! A highlight of my trip to London. The room was beautiful and the staff was so polite. You accommodated my dietary needs to perfection and the food was delicious (especially the scones and macaroons).

A pleasure from booking to the last crumb. It was my father's 89th birthday treat and he is nearly blind so I asked for a light, bright table. We were seated in the lovely conservatory and he was thrilled. He said the scones were "better than M & S" which is a huge compliment, and polished off the entire 3 tiers of goodies. For me the setting and table were gorgeous, the food was delicious and the tea a very good blend. I only have one plea: BRING BACK PROPER CAKE!! Since when are macaroons and raspberry tarts part of afternoon tea? Why not cherry genoa, or treacle and ginger sponge, or rich fruit cake, or - dare I say it? - Victoria sponge?

The afternoon tea was scrumptious. The sandwiches were very tasty, the scones (you can have plain or currant) were light and the little cakes gave an interesting range of flavours. Extra of anything was readily offered. There was a range of teas, we had the Goring own blend which complemented the food nicely. All the staff were very courteous and attentive with out being over bearing. All in all an excellent afternoon tea.

The tea was lovely with a good selection of cakes a d sandwiches which were topped up regularly. The only thing I would have liked is a greater selection of more exotic sandwich fillers. They were very much straight down the middle with cheese beef salmon and coronation chicken.

We found the hotel was a real treat with traditional decor and a very relaxing ambiance. As you walked up the entrance steps you were greeted by both of the Derby wearing doormen, in a very friendly manner. escorted into the dining area after any coats were taken from you and a token given to reclaim them later. The waiting staff were equally friendly, attentive and talkative if you wished to converse with them as we did. Nothing was too much trouble with the menu being explained if required. The selection of teas was extensive and would satisfy any connoisseur of World teas. A new pot of tea was forthcoming after each was expended without asking. The sandwiches were prepared with care and even the cheese was 'Moorish'. So much so that we were offered a second helping, which we accepted. Finally leaving two and just one pastry which were packed for us to take away in bespoke carriers. A last minute enquiry about a Birthday cake was met with a slice of Chocolate cake with a candle with 'Happy Birthday' spelt out in chocolate sauce on the china tray on which it was served. It was a real effort to pull ourselves away from our table but when we did we then went outside onto the terrace and looked down on the lovely gardens where afternoon tea is served during the Summer months. As we exited the building, several of the staff wished us good bye and hoped we would be back again soon. That is a foregone conclusion, we certainly will. We have sampled a number of Five Star afternoon teas and this ranks as the best.
