Took my parents to The Goring for afternoon Tea when they recently visited me in London and we had an amazing time. The food is served in good size and has a nice classic selection. The atmosphere was really fantastic and all the staff were lovely and service was great.

    Service was excellent.
Unfortunately the milk was sour in our first cup of tea but it was replaced quickly.
    Sandwiches refilled and were delicious.
Cakes beautiful but we're not replaced when plate empty.
    Loved the room and ambience.

The food and presentation was excellent but the service was just ok. Yes we received our sandwiches and tea quite promptly but after that it seemed as though we were forgotten about which was surprising because there wasn't a shortage of waiting staff and the place wasn't particularly busy. I would have expected the staff to be a little bit more attentive. We asked for a second batch of sandwiches which never arrived so had to ask twice. We also had to ask for more tea.

The Goring is a stunning hotel that provides a really intimate Afternoon Tea unlike the larger London hotels. The service and attention to detail is fantastic and the food was divine. The staff were attentive and friendly without imposing. It was the perfect venue and afternoon for my sisters 50th birthday

It was great! We were handled very expertly and attentively, we had a table with a view over the garden and there was an infinite amount of food for our afternoon tea. The drinks were quite expensive, as you'd expect, the family chose the most expensive tea options, as you'd expect, and the host paid up willingly, as you'd expect. Sandwiches were spot on, scones and cream were just right, only the cakes slightly let the show down. Plenty of them and probably home made but a bit cloying and over sweet for our taste. Other than that the event was perfect. I believe my tea was topped up 12 times, unasked, by our very helpful waiter who also brought second helpings of sandwiches and scones for the hungry females of the party. We wandered around the garden and there was no pressure at all for us to move on. Overall, a very relaxed, enjoyable and expensive afternoon. One we will no doubt repeat.
