Offering a slice of British heritage, 2 AA Rosette-awarded Stapleford Park Country House Hotel is surrounded by 500 acres of spotless landscape. Awarded the 2013 TripAdvisor certificate of excellence, afternoon tea at the imperial country estate is a sumptuous affair, while the Regency setting lends itself to a whole host of outdoor pursuits.

Cream tea served with warm, fluffy scones leads the Afternoon Tea spread, together with clotted cream and homemade jams. Finely-trimmed finger sandwiches, sweet cakes and pastries and a glass of chilled champagne can also be enjoyed in a selection of rooms or on the charming outdoor terrace which overlooks the flourishing grounds.

Imperial décor dominates the design scheme at the Stapleford Park Country House Hotel in Melton Mowbray, with regal armchairs and plush sofas littering the vintage-style rooms. Crackling log fires inject a cosy warmth throughout, while leather-bound books and antique art fills the sprawling space.

A 10-minute drive from Melton Mowbray Rail Station, Afternoon Tea at Stapleford Park in Leicestershire is just a 20-minute drive to Rutland Water Nature Reserve.

Beautiful setting, slow service and no prosecco despite being part of the deal. Cakes were lovely - could have done with a couple more sandwiches for £26

Lovely setting, food very good. Sandwiches took a while to arrive but staff were apologetic and helpful. Would definitely come here again.

My experience was wonderful I will recommend anyone wanting to visit you. I bought along my nieces aged 10 and 12 they thought it was wonderful and really enjoyed the sandwich refills and cakes :).

    V. Nice afternoon tea for my partner, mother & me. A bit expensive, but what we've come to expect in these large country hotels. Charging 10% service on top is a cheek. I know it has become the norm in city centre places, but feels opportunistic to me. £80 bill for three afternoon teas, then another £8 to bring it to us! I run a business, so I know about margin & profit, but sticking £8 on is cynical.
Staff were very helpful over my partner's coeliac disease and need for gluten-free. So thanks very much for that.

Initially given a low seated sofa and coffee table to dine from, located facing the entrance door, the request to move, was granted. Bland sandwiche selection of only 4 slices presented on the plate 1 of each filling. Requested additional slice but they ran out of the tomatoe sandwich, having supplied 1 slice (? What happened to the remaining tomatoe). The tea pot handle conducted heat but no warning given - children had burnt fingers. French tea cakes were not appetising (apple jelly is not a tea cake)
    Disappointing over priced afternoon tea.

We booked for afternoon tea and was given our own room with stunning views. They brought round tea leaves for us to smell before choosing from a wide range of teas and were also given a free glass of champagne each. We had unlimited refil of food and the staff were all very lovely. The place itself is just stunning and I definitely will be returning.
