Nice welcome.. good first impression on arrival. Party of 3, we were shown to a low Settee for two and one higher dining chair for the third person + low table, not ideal configuration for maximum enjoyment of afternoon tea. On request, we were moved to a more suitable table arrangement. Service was attentive. Afternoon tea was very good, with nice sandwiches and dainty pastries, although nothing exceptional. service was very attentive throughout, although Staff seemed to disappear at the time we wanted to pay (perhaps on their break?). We had to search out someone in order to settle the bill. Beautiful surroundings. All round very pleasant experience.

Never Fails to impress, gave the place a lovely Christmas feel. Well looked after by staff, my favourite was the slab of chocolate cheesecake type desert, my wife's favourite part was the Black Forest Yule Log.

We have visited twice this year, once a stay and this week for afternoon tea. On both occasions the food and service has been poor. I remember staying in the early days when it was a hotel at its peak, my sister held her wedding at Stapleford when Bob owned it and you wouldn't fault anything. Our afternoon tea on Friday past was not worth anything like the £30ph payed. Staff didn't speak good English. I have no issues with employing from other countries but their lack of the language didn't make ordering easy, even a request for some butter took two attempts. The staff member standing behind the bar clearly didn't want to do too much to help as we had to wait ten minutes for the butter as he, when asked clearly wanted the young lady working with him to fetch it but she wasn't around!. The sandwiches were unpleasant, I think your chef was trying to be too clever but not sure he understands what works, simple and well excecuted would have been much better, the scones were fine but the cakes poor. Not sure if you buy in or make in house but, to be honest they were rubbish.
You have the most beautiful setting and hotel, overall I am sure the staff, with some guidance could be better but if you cannot prepare good food, even a simple afternoon tea then there are many better places to go.
I am disappointed, I said to my wife after our last stay I wouldn't visit again and due to location and against my better judgement we did visit you on Friday. Perhaps I thought it would be better, but sadly no change.
I am sad to say all the above, your hotel was the place to go in the past and is sadly a poor relic of past glories.
Good food and good service are paramount!
    Yours sincerely David Hamilton

We had a wonderful time at Stapleford Park, the house itself is beautiful. We had an Afternoon tea and were very well looked after , the food was lovely and we were asked several times if we needed refills for tea or sandwiches. All the food was delicious, although we did have a mix up with the vegetarian in our party getting ham sandwiches and the lady in our party with an egg allergy had macaroons. The scones were delicious and also the small cakes/pastries. For me personally maybe more variety in the sandwich fillings, but overall we had a great time. The staff were friendly and helpful and made us feel very welcome, we came for my mums 70th birthday and she was so pleased with the card (handwritten) and the chocolates, a lovely touch.

The whole afternoon tea experience at Stapleford Park was excellent. The beautiful room had fabulous furnishings and the chairs were very comfy. The service throughout was perfect; we got attention when we wanted it and were left alone when we did not. The food was scrumptious, our party's particular favourite was the chocolate pistachio tower. I had booked this as a Birthday present for my friend and the additional touches that were added because of the celebration were well received. I would love to go back again soon.

Delicious afternoon tea, nothing is too much trouble the staff are attentitive continually asking if you require more tea or sandwiches. Service is excellent.
