Beautiful venue - gold and mirrors. Perfect for a special tea. Good staff. Cakes and scones excellent. Sandwiches good but could be fresher.

An iconic London landmark, Hotel Café Royal provides a majestic setting for its elegant afternoon tea. The exquisitely restored Oscar Wilde Bar is the home to their take on the traditional afternoon tea.

Designed by Hotel Café Royal’s talented chefs, their original take on an English tradition includes decadent pastries, cakes, scones, sandwiches and over 20 exclusive tea blends.

Established at Café Royal in London as the Grill Room in 1865, the Oscar Wilde Bar was renamed after its famed patron who once dined and drank here daily, and retains its original Louis XVI detailing. Accompanied by a live pianist, these luxurious surroundings are the perfect setting in which to enjoy a celebrative afternoon tea.

Piccadilly Tube Station is a 3-minute walk away. Please note, Hotel Café Royal kindly requests that the smart casual dress code is observed.

Took my Mum for a Mothers day treat. Really lovely. The staff were very welcoming. The surroundings were beautiful. There was a piano player which added to the ambience. The tea was of course 1st class. We didn't feel rushed which was also very nice.

Our best dishes were the raisin scones and the macaroons.

The Oscar Wilde bar in the Cafe Royal has been beautifully refurbished in the Louis XIV style and was stunning. The staff were attentive and the afternoon tea was delicious. The cakes, which we couldn't finish, were neatly boxed for us to take home. We greatly enjoyed the pianist who played a variety of tunes including happy birthday to our daughter. The bar isn't too large and felt cosy.

More than enough to eat at tea time.

Food was lovely, ambiance was superb, most of the service was excellent but we were rushed out at the end and was not offered the full food service by the staff, so as this was a birthday visit, it was very disappointing

It was a lovely experience. The staff were all so friendly. Although I feel the 1hr and a half timing wasn't enough with 4 ppl should've given extra time and there was a delay in bringing the food out. But overall it was really good with an amazing environment,

It was very lovely. It was an afternoon High Tea shared with my son. It was a lovely setting in the Oscar Wilde room @ the Royal Cafe. the Champagne, Tea, sandwiches, and cakes were all very tasty and you could have as much as you felt was necessary. It appeared the quality was absolutely very high for everything. They had a pianist to help enjoy the moment too! So if you enjoy a relaxing afternoon for conversation with light food, Champagne & Tea then this would be for you.
