Within the elegant Hanbury Manor Marriott Hotel, exquisite afternoon teas take place in four individual charming rooms - the Zodiac, Cocktail Bar, Oak Hall and Library in a classical country estate surrounding.

The Oak Hall & Cocktail Bar menu perfectly complements its timeless British regal setting. The classic Hanbury Manor afternoon tea is a speciality, offering finely cut sandwiches, freshly baked scones and a selection of delicate French pastries. An extensive selection of teas are a perfect accompaniment, as is a glass of the finest champagne.

The previous office of the convent school Headmistress, the roaring open log fire and wood panelled walls in Oak Hall at Hanbury Manor create an atmosphere of refinement. A comprehensive drinks menu is also available at Oak Hall & Cocktail Bar, perfect for a pre-dinner cocktail or post-dinner nightcap.

In the rolling Hertfordshire countryside, the Oak Hall & Cocktail Bar at the Hanbury Manor Marriott Hotel offers the very best in traditional British dining and elegance.

The greeting at reception was very friendly, welcoming and professional. We found all the staff extremely polite and attentive. The afternoon tea was delightful, very tasty and beautifully presented. I might have preferred to have a choice of table, but that minor point certainly wouldn't stop us coming again.

This was a terribly disappointing experience and the venue has gone downhill since we went last year. We make our afternoon treat an annual event and this year we were truly let down. When we arrived we were told to sit at a table which was barely big enough for two people to have drinks at, let alone share our afternoon tea. We were then told we could move to a bigger table (virtually the same size and with the same uncomfortable seats) to which I declined. The final table offered was bigger but the seats were not suitable as they were slouched old wingback chairs. We usually have had our afternoon tea sat at a proper table in the past so this is what we expected. To add to this, not one other person came for afternoon tea the whole time we were there. So we sat in an empty room being shoved on a ridiculous table for nothing! They were badly organised too and did not even know what I had booked when I had left clear instructions.

A real treat, relaxing over an indulgent spread for afternoon tea: finger sandwiches, cream tea with warm scones and delicate, beutifully hand-crafted cakes helped down by Russian Caravan and Lovers Leap Ceylon tea. The fantastic, views across the grounds from the library and comfy window seats were made even more relaxing by the unlimited bubbles. Excellent service and lovely hotel.
A fantastic way to unwind after a long week - should make it a Friday ritual!

Service from all the staff was excellent. I have been to tea at hanbury manor for afternoon tea on several occasions and on the last time earlier this year we had to send all our sandwiches back as the bread was very hard and stale. Yesterday we decided to give it another try and we were very disappointed as again the sandwiches were again hard and the fillings were tastless. The open sandwiches of the houmous were not good. Such a shame and it's not cheap. Don't think I will be going back again.

A feeling of relaxing calm comes over you when you step inside this old Manor House hotel. The restaurant had a beautiful view of the grounds. After toasting my husband's birthday with champagne the main event arrived. The sandwiches were delicious, I especially liked the pickled carrot and humus. I think maybe an egg mayonnaise instead of one of the meat sandwiches would be nice. The scones were lovely and warm and the cake selection was yummy, although we had to take some home as we were all so full. The service was attentive but not intrusive. I would definitely recommend this hotel highly for afternoon tea.

The champagne was excellent and the quality of the food was good but the overall experience was disappointing. For example we had a selection of small cakes but they were all different and therefore we had to work out who was going to eat what. Every other high tea I've experienced has always provided multiples to ensure everyone could eat what they wanted. We also came away feeling slightly hungry which again, is not a sensation I would normally associate with such an occasion.
