We enjoyed so much our afternoon tea and were thankful that we could combine the menus. The waitresses /service around us were incredible and we enjoyed also the opportunity to get the view from the roof terrace.

Fantastic service, lovely relaxing setting on the balcony. All the food was lovely but special mention to the carrot cake!

We had the afternoon tea but wasn't very impressed (I've sampled many afternoon tea) most of the deserts were strange and inedible. There was a strange milky mouse that just tasted like you were eating cornflakes! The scones were very small and the carrot cake tasted nothing like carrot cake. Slightly disappointed for this lovely hotel.

The sandwiches and cakes were lovely. The venue was very comfortable and it felt like a special occasion.
We arrived 15 mins early with the intention of ordering a drink before sitting at our table. But were seated immediately and when we asked for a bottle of prosecco we were told we could only order champagne as we were having the afternoon tea. Obviously we would have preferred to choose for ourselves . This did take away from the experience unfortunately .

The service was wonderful, very attentive. However, I had called and booked in the week because my friend has to have a Dairy free menu and the sandwiches provided were disappointing. It did not feel like anyone had really given it any thought. One of the sandwiches was just dry bread with tomato and lettuce in it!

I have been to the hotel for afternoon tea before and it was great, just a little disappointing this time as this is why I had booked earlier in the week, to give the chef enough notice to prepare.

Very impressed with the afternoon tea at Great John St Hotel
Food was served on vintage China in an intimate drawing room . Staff were friendly and attentive and we did not feel rushed. Highly recommended

A thoroughly enjoyable afternoon, the gentleman's afternoon tea was fantastic and a great alternative to the traditional.

Overall experience was just 'okay'. We paid £20 each so I expected better and having been to King Street Townhouse who are part of the same chain I was hoping the experience would be as good as there. However, it wasn't and it cost us more! The service was very slow, even from meeting us at the door and taking us to our table. I've never had to prompt someone before so I would suggest this is an area to be greatly improved. First experiences for the customer should be of high priority. It took a while for someone to take our tea order, we were never asked if we needed a refill part way through out time there, we had to ask for the jam to go with the scones and we were disappointed in the sandwiches and cakes. The salmon was not the best tasting although the chicken tikka were nice, the panna cotta was just okay but tasted just like an egg custard and the eccles cake was doughy and tasted stale and the white bread for the sandwiches did not feel as soft and fresh as I would have expected.

We were there from 4pm and so wasn't particularly busy at that time so I would have expected the staff to be a bit more attentive.

The room was lovely and the atmosphere was very nice.

I wouldn't go there again, sadly lacking compared to it's sister hotel as mentioned!
